Plain and simply I was thinking that this would be a very fun game if there was a single player version.
You choose who you want to be, Humans or Aliens, and then you go through a campaign to wipe out the other race of course. Just don't make any cheats for it, cheats ruin a game. And of course you would ahve to make A.I. or what ever you call it for bots that would actually be somewhat smart and helpful. Im sure this has been suggested before but I just thought I'd bring it up.
And I was thinking that the more levels you beat the higher rank you would become and maybe you would be able to tell the bots on your team to follow you or to go attack and whatever.
And heres something I thought would be cool for both multiplayer and Single(if made). Make a couple different looks for both alien and human unit types, and make it so a player can customize the way they looks or maybe make it so when they spawn they get a randomized look maybe, just another idea that I thought would be really cool.

Yeah I am waiting for Halo 3 to come out too :)

I agree a single player would be rather nice.
As in, play through your faverourite maps, custom maps and suchlike across the galaxy to rid the aliens/humans.
To begin with , I would only make it a human single player, but eventually make an alien one.
In each map there would be enemies, but also objectives to complete to get the f*** outta there, or kill those f***** b*******.
Humans
Part I
Retreat
Part II
Regroup
Part III
Retribution
The thing that'll take the longest is making all the millions of maps needed.
Maybe make drawings (for layouts and styles), thmes, notes and suchlike on maps you need made, then put them up-for-grabs onb the forums.
Each mapper makes a map, and itll be a huge collaborative effort.
OR, someone starts a map, lays down the foundation, caulks it, gets the fundamentals done, then passes it to another pklayer, who roughly puts in walkways, and obvious things. This ges handed round to more people and In the end we have a good map with little time spent from each player.
The only flaws I see in this is:
The huge range in mapping skill levels (metro Vs. Blockworld)
Co-operation
Motivation
However, If any of the big guns give their support for this, then It could happen.
However, this needs TONS more discussion and serious, realistic thinking.
ATM, Its not realistic to make 20 decent maps by yourself, splitting the workload increases motivation, but what If the next mapper decides to do something completely different.
If you can think up an effective storyline, ideas for maps, and basically the grand scheme of things, make a topic and Id be happy to contribute.
And because itsan open development, who says the singlwe player ever has to end?

Dont know where youve been but halo 3 has been out for what? 2 weeks now?

well we currently have alien bots being developed by amine? and forque3? i know amine was the first guy to make a server with actual dretchbots that move and attack when they see you. if someone could further there coding that would be great.
-
Sure, but code the AI yourself

Lies. f0rqu3 made the original dretchbot, I was probably the first to create a server that included it. amine basically rewrote it though and made them what they are today.

well the bots arent all that great as is, i once saw a human bot and a alien bot seperated by a wall, they sat there and ran at the wall trying to kill the other...
So obviously they need a great deal of improvement.
-
Uhm... Could we have 1.2 first, before you try to get plans for 2.0?
-
maybe lol >_>

To begin with , I would only make it a human single player, but eventually make an alien one.
I would think that an alien singleplayer mode would be easier as human bots have been done many times. All you would need would be a new client-compatible set of qvms (all three) and some maps with .aas files. (I think)
-
Oh right, I just thought as there had already been notable progress on alien bots.
An alien mission would be more unique I have to say.
-
we should make a map that is like on the alien home planet, like in a cave or something?
-
Admittadly we do need a map on an alien home ground.
And we also need other maps of...
SHIPYARDS!!!
Im gonna be making some lol.
-
as soon as i get the mapping figured out ill make the alien home ground map
-
alien single player = awesome, if human bots aren't turrets but are programmed to miss, but become more like turrets for harder gameplay (easy normal hard tremulously-hard )
@the program urself i am currently learning program, but it will be next semester until i start on java and the whole range of C

goddie gosh, a single player multiplayer shooter? Sounds fun to me.

+2 more years of practice until your code will be any useful.
-
i know, but at least im making an attempt: and i may just be a genius at it and be useful right away. im still keeping my fingers crossed
-
Nice idea.
I can make some SP maps, but we'll need a coder or programmer.
