Tyrants can instakill any human and no human can individually beat one of them, only as a team. Well, I don't play as part of the team, I'm just on to have fun and do things my way. It's annoying having people tell me I'm a newbie or a feeder just because aliens are too strong on 1v1 fights. I think most people tend to see things my way because humans almost always lose due to people not working as a team. Well guess what, it's because teamplay is boring and too complicated and we just want to have fun! Here's my analysis of the human weapons and why they're too weak.
Rifle- One of the better weapons due to accuracy and speed. It's free, too.
Painsaw- Worthless. I've had level 1 aliens jump right into my face and survive it, and it isn't an instakill like the upper level alien attacks, so it's only good against afk players.
Shotgun- Decent, but still very weak and terrible at any decent range. Aliens always win in close range anyway.
Laser- Too weak, and there is never enough range to use it properly.
Mass driver- Useful against level 1 aliens, but that's it.
Chaingun- Too inaccurate, even the rifle is better!
Flamer- What a joke. It kills me more than the enemy! It doesn't have enough range, either.
Plasma- It's not hitscan, so it's only good for holding the enemy back and not for frontal assaults, so I never use it.
Lucifer- The explosive blast is far too weak and the normal blasts are too slow to hit anything.
The game should be balanced for normal players, not hardcore teams of 8-12 elite players!
-
you lack discipline!
-
Painsaw - A base destroyer. Period. Unless you're feeling damned lucky or you know what you're doing, you do not charge anything mobile with this.
Shotgun - 3-4 shots will kill a goon. Survive long enough and don't suck with your aim (or heaven forbid bring a combat buddy) and you're fine.
Lasgun - Plenty strong, but it's meant as a support weapon, so meh.
Mass Driver - VERY effective when you know how to use it, trust me.
Chaingun - Decent at killing most things, and tyrants and goons are big enough that the shots are a sure hit, and if you've ever charged a half-decent human with a suit and chaingun, you'd know that the chaingun is not underpowered.
Flamer - Also meant as a base killer, but yeah, it's a bit of a joke weapon. If they don't watch what they're doing, though, it crisps aliens damned quick.
Pulse rifle - Again, efficient base killer. Also kills bigger aliens quick enough if you can either predict their movement or get close enough to unload (while they're distracted or already weak, ideally).
Lucifer - Superb base killer. A direct hit with a charge shot will destroy about any base element but an Overmind, as well as goons and smaller.
I won't even go into the asinine teamwork junk earlier in the post. Surprise, surprise, it's a teamplay-oriented game. Cripes.

Wait what?? Damn.. and I've been playing the game wrong the whole time.
I knew I shouldn't have let n00b pl0x "teach" me how to play...
-
I actually suddenly gained talent inb the flamer, now I understand how not to take myself down, Im still handy with a rifle though.
-
This thread makes me want to kill random people. I thought we were past the point of people posting crap like this...
-
pff lava, how could you expect something like that?
-
Higher Game, how many time have you played as an alien? Please, just settle my curiousity...
The painsaw is extraordinarily inexpensive and is intended for use against constructions.
The shotgun is a fine weapon, and more importantly, is CHEAP. It costs hardly anything at all. Besides, it's a shotgun. It's not supposed to be a long range weapon. If you stay close, it's quite effective.
The lasgun is fine. Think of it a rifle, just rebalanced for slightly different purposes.
Chaingun- crouch or buy a bsuit.
Flamethrower- meh.
Pulse rifle- kicks ass and takes names. Get more practice
-
the teams aren't as stacked as you think, if you find a human who knows how to use the pulse rifle* youre screwed as an alien. short term, aliens are better so just outlast to s2
-
It is a pulse rifle, not "Plasma Rifle"
Doesnt matter but meh

 waaah! aliens killed me
:o waaah! i can't be a lone berserker
D: waaah! i don't wanna be a team player
:x waaah! i suck too much to play the way i want to which is stupid anyway
 waaah! i played maybe once and died and posted once and trolled so now pay attention to me
:O waaah! these guns are no good i want better ones now
:( waaah! now i'm gonna go spend three minutes trying another game before i go whine about how much it sucks, too
 waaah! i don't have an attention span
-
The painsaw is the best weapon, except against Marauders who like to jump around. Two seconds and a Tyrant is down, just watch your movement.
-
God, why has no-one mentioned the blaster? EH?
-
Because everyone is afraid of uttering the name of the humans most potent weapon.
-
They say it's powered by the souls of slaughtered aliens...
-
if you think that humans are to hard they play aliens. when you do you will post back here complaining about how aliens are unmatched. the only reason you are complaning is because tremulous unlike many games takes 6 months to get good enough to call yourself ok at tremulous.

goon: jump-pounce-taunt spamming while screaming "mute meh!" repeatedly
the OP posted this one post five days ago and never returned...
he's probably somewhere complaining that Enemy Territories has too many Nazis in it...
this thread can get tossed in the bin w/ the rest of the "alienz too hard" troll-threadz now plz
oh & for the record: SEARCH
Game is fun, but rigged. (http://tremulous.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5952)
Aliens always win? (http://tremulous.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4714)
more threads started by ppl w/ less than ten posts to say "alienz too hard" before they fucked off forever, never to be heard from again (good riddance to bad rubbish, i sez, attention-span-challenged quitterz...*grumble*)

he learned that somewhere else :x
i dont scream mute meh, cuz when i get muted i switch to deconing

God, why has no-one mentioned the blaster? EH?
The blaster is a specialist tool for specialist Tremulous players.

So its so special that even botters can't use them....its obviously the uber weapon for pr0's!

This reminds me of, oh wait, my therapist locked those memories.

Painsaw: taken 3 rants at a time with one, it induces panic and they start slashing each other trying to get me. absolutely ruins bases.
Shotgun: 4 - 5 shots, deadly on retches and lisks
Lasgun: learn to aim, its a deadly weapon when paired with the batt pack.
MD: deadly but slow on the follow up, without batt pack its kinda useless for anything other than camping and killwhoring.
Chaingun: garbage for small stuff, killer on the big slow ones.
Flamer: if you use a flamer your fucking retarded and need to get kicked for bleeding
Pulse: LOLZ IM CHASING A MARU WITH A PULSE!!111oneoneone sell the fucking thing and buy a real gun.
Luci: good for fucking bases and stupid goons, otherwise pack it in.

Maybe that's why Tremulous can suck. People like you think they're too good to work as a team. Tyrants are the top level genius, you think you can 1 on 1 it with a blaster? Think again.[/quote]

Flamer <3
It makes the goons ineffective because they edge away from you.
Killed lotsa aliens with this baby, you just have to know how to make 'em panic.
Sweep them in flames, not much is needed before they are low on health.
Force them up in corners with it.
Never lose an opportunity to grill 'em when they jump past you.
And shoot at the ground in front of you when attacked by dretches, it is far more effective hitting the ground and making splash damage then trying to hit anything head- on.
Also, head-onning with a flamer knocks the flames back on you, killing you.

What about the other aliens vs. a luci?
- Group of dretches quickly fall before a luci.
- If a basilisk graps you they're dead too <3.
- Mara is a bit harder but still a charged up luci kills them in 1 hit.
- Goon is same as Mara.
- Retreating Tyrants can quickly be slain by a charged luci and even in a one on one situation it only takes like 2-3 charged hits to kill them.
-
Actually, on rare occassions, you'll find basis that can take out lucis much more easily than you would think they could.

It's just a case of grabbing him long enough to make him fire at the ground (hurting himself), at which point you back off till it's safe to repeat. If all the while you're making hits on him, there's a chance you'll be the one to finish him off.

The best way to use a flamer would be to move backwards while sweeping the area in front of you. You think people that used flamethrowers run into the fire they make?
-
Running into your flame does not hurt you, you hurt yourself because you shoot too close to walls, or because you aim too low.
So you can run into your flame if you wish as long as you don't hit anything :P

I prefer getting on their head and jumping up and down while swiping. On bsuits, I do that but I move around after the first couple of swipes.
However, I have done what you mentioned before, and can't say it doesn't work well.

if lucy is strafing, and knows what its doing, then there is no chance for the basi to do anything. All it will end up with is either a bit of wasted ammo, or a over-energized basi remains on the floor.
But that tactics works perfectly well both for dretches and basis and even marauders on the average to noob skill level lucies.
