Hi all,
This is about the game festival that we have been talking about in this thread (http://tremulous.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=96777). I've been suggested to post about it here so here we go. If moderators wish, they can remove my last post in that thread as it pretty much duplicates this (sorry, was too quick on the submit button).
Anyway, we have the general rule set being drafted here: http://www.libervis.com/wiki/index.php?title=Rule_set
That's for the whole game fest, and this is a draft of a Tremulous specific guidelines:
http://www.libervis.com/wiki/index.php?title=Tremulous_Component
You are most encouraged to check it out and then post your opinions here or in this thread (http://www.nuxified.org/topic/organizing_the_tremulous_component_of_the_gamefest)
These are the guidelines according to which we will be running the Tremulous component of this game festival.
So.. anyone interested in seeing this succeed and of course, especially those signed up to play, please weigh in if you have ANY opinions to share. :)
Cheers!

Response from the Tremulous community regarding this festival has been great, even though it doesn't show in this particular thread. ;)
We have at least 10 clans lined up for participation and have had a healthy discussion in our forum regarding the organization of the Tremulous Component. Still, more feedback is certainly welcome before we set the rules in tremor stone: http://www.nuxified.org/topic/organizing_the_tremulous_component_of_the_gamefest
Now one thing we're looking for at this point, as part of a pending promotional campaign is to get someone from the Tremulous community write a brief article about why you love playing Tremulous, what's its draw and why do you think others should join the game too. Just describe the Tremulous experience as you see it.
You can submit your write ups in this topic: http://www.nuxified.org/topic/calling_for_brief_articles_on_why_do_you_love_that_game
Thank you once again!

In order to further promote Tremulous participation, there's one idea that would be very encouraged. Let's find someone who is a great respected Tremulous player promote this gamefest, the Tremulous tournament of it in particular, through in-game messages, just inviting people to check out and perhaps join this tournament.
Currently we have predominantly EU players and clans which could end up completely cutting off the US and non-EU side in general. However if we find enough non-EU players we might either come up with some sort of a compromise or have two tournaments, one US and one EU!
In any case, don't be discouraged. This is really happening. This is NOT a drill! The tournament is ON and we need you to spread the word!
Cheers

One tip. Don't do cross continental matches for us and eu. They will inevitably suck enough that some clans might start complaining they lost because of lag.
-
That's why there are servers in the old and the new country, so everyone can have the same lag :)
-
Yep, the thing is, we're currently seeing predominantly Europeans signing up for participation so it looks like, if this doesn't change, we'll basically have just the European tournament.
If we however get a significant number of US players/clans then we can hold two tournaments. As Caveman said, we had (thanks to him, among others ;) ) servers on both sides of the pond. :)
So basically, if you've got US people to invite, that'd be great. Otherwise I'm afraid this's likely going to be Europe (and whatever is close enough) only tourney.
Cheers

I'll update that, but the confirmation topic is here: http://www.nuxified.org/topic/confirm_participation_in_tournaments
I suppose since you posted yesterday, which is fairly recent, that can count as a confirmation too so you're in. You're still encouraged to confirm on that topic just to be proper. ;)

The Teams for the tremulous tourney are made up as well as groups. 11 clans, i believe 10 from Europe, and three teams made up of players who signed up solo 2 of which have an even balance of pro/new players. the third one being new players who know each other.
