Title: Portal: The Flash Version
Post by: Steely Ann on November 03, 2007, 05:03:27 pm
I generally despise flash games with a burning passion; maybe I've just had a bad experience, but the vast majority of them are mediocre, get old really fast, and/or are just plain craptacular, which makes looking for the few good ones among them seem not worth it.

I recently came across one I'm uncharacteristically fond of that's a fan-made 2D Flash version of Portal, however, and thought I'd share.  Takes a while to load at startup but it has 40 levels, pretty nice graphics, and makes for a spiffy li'l brain-teaser.  Only thing that bugs me is it's a bit short for my liking. :(

Really?  That one was a fun run-through, since I did the whole Death From Above thing and then used the turrets to fire at each other.
I didn't really start cursing in earnest until L35 with that damnable door shiat.

Are the turrets on the right side ripping you up or what? :P

Ever heard of N, Ann? It's a great flash game, and I used to hold it as far and away the best one out there, but more and more games lately are making use of flash in a way that doesn't come off tacky.

Damn you, Ann.

I run a Mac, and various Linux boxes.  I have thus far escaped the timesink that is Portal (though I sometimes wish I could play it, other times I think of the things in life I've been able to enjoy by not being sucked into the game).

And then you post this.

Damn you to hell. :P

Meh.  I'm already going there for laughing at this gem from a Fark thread earlier in the week, Rocinate:

I started to feel kind of bad once my lungs recovered. :(

Love&Hate

It makes you want to solve the puzzle and yet you get killed by it interpreting your tap to the left as a huge stride or being teleported to some random part of the map which isn't very safe.

It's a very nice attempt but it's still buggy. =(

the only reason anyone should play flash games is because theyre the only thing that your school doesnt block.

if you play things like n and portal at home for more than a week then i have a fun game for you. its called find and throw the rock. guess what you do?
