So I'm using the non-backport server and I get admin. This was on a different persons account (Windows XP). I switch over to my account and play on the same server, but I no longer have admin. Solution?

Be more descriptive; do you mean (un?)passworded rcon access to it, is one of the accounts limited, are you the one running the server and if so is it on LAN or the local machine?
Edit: I just noticed the topic title has 'GUID' in it but your post says non-backport so I'm a little confused.

Well, to be honest i'm a little technologically-impaired when it comes to these things.
I received admin privileges on a server (not mine), but when I was playing Trem on a different Windows XP user account. When I play Tremulous on my user account, I no longer have admin privileges. I don't think that i'm using the backport client.

Install the backport client on it...
To install the backport client to go http://trem.tjw.org/backport/win32/ and download tremulous.exe , then go to your tremulous folder in program files and replace the version of tremulous.exe that's in the with the one you downloaded.

Different user accounts will have different settings and GUIDs, so your admin levels will not be valid from one account to another. You can copy over the qkey file from one account to the other so you will have the same GUID (C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous\qkey (or it might be in base, depending on the client version)). In the future, consider playing on only one account.

Optimus res efficio est utor unus ratio tantum.
(The best solution would be to use one account only.)
