how?
(this is so i dont forget)Then the user you are logging in as doesn't have permissions to save the server.cfg to wherever you are trying to save it. Logout and logon as Administrator, or, use explorer to get to C:\windows\system32\notepad.exe and, holding down shift, right click and select "run as" (in XP, should still be there for vista), put in your Administrator username and password, then open up server.cfg from there.

You want to run tremded.exe as a service, that is really outside the realm of this site (IMO anyways ;) ). Presumably, you are running one of the windows home versions, at which point I would recommend that you not run a network enabled service on it. However, if you are determined, perhaps here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/137890) will be a good place to start.

ok ty ill just post more if i have more questions
-
lol snb, did you know how to get to the registry before that tutorial told you how on checking the service?
-
what? that makes no sense to me plz explain

LAWL?!
Running anything on a computer that is shut down?
Sweet idea, if you find out how, you'll get the Nobel-prize for saving loads and loads of energy.
-
Indeed that would be an innovation.
-
well i notice that dretch strorm has there server runing all the time do they have a host or somthing? or do they just leave there computer on
-
They probably have a dedicated server hosted by a company. In other words it costs money. Home connections dedicated servers really can't pull a decent amount of people most of the time.

Not to mention that some ToS explicitly forbid running any kind of "server" or offering service .)
-
While it may go against the ToS, you'll still never get nailed for it

It makes perfect since, did you know how to get to the registry editor before the tutorial showed you how?

Dretch*Storm is hosted on a dedicated server out of Dallas, TX same as with Server Dretch*Tsunami. Home connections for hosting servers are just for local people around your area for having fun or the people that you speak to online, thats all a home connection is used for to host a server.

no that still makes no sense

Are you an idiot?

SNB, how is it even feasible that you can run a server without whatever it is that is running it powered on?
What makes you think that it is?
-
Well actually, that's theoretically possible to run a "server" without a real machine
If you declare to a master server, "There, i have a server xabc" and the master server itself will get the "i wanna join xabc lulz! Put me on players list" and keep a list of players, but it's the players all together who maintain the game up(using a P2P technology), you will have a server with no machine behind it, apart from the playing players
In practice, well, a game will need a "impartial authority" otherwise all the clients would be like "i hit u!" "no u lulz!" "hey u got kicked already" "never lulz!"
that's why this doesn't exist...that's part of the anarchy idealism
What's possible, on this technology, is to have that "regulating authority", as a server running all the time, which says, "hey, that guy got kicked, don't send the game info to him", or "Yes, You scored a hitand killed him"
-
Epsy, that's too complicated for him.
-
are you guys serious? isnt this polishfarmerboy resurected? why are you even responding?
