Hey Guys I reinstalled tremulous today and fear I messed up somewhere, although trem installs and plays fine. If I go to install GUID it comes up with a error because there are no .cfg files- from a messy uninstall. I have tried a number of clean installs deleting the trem folder on my documents and then reinstalling trem to no avail. If someone will kindly tell me how, I will post a screenshot of the problem.
Thanks In Advance, Coolicus

Lack of cfg's shouldn't be a problem, the important ones will be recreated with the defaults.
What os / exact error?
-
OS is Windows XP and the exact error is this "couldnt load default.cfg
the context of the error is this. (at least what the console gives me)
tremulous 1.1.0 win_mingw-x86 Feb 17 2007
----- FS_Startup -----
Current search path:
C:\Documents and Settings\Adam B\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous/base
C:\Documents and Settings\Adam B\Desktop/base

Couldn't load default.cfg
-
put tremulous.exe in the tremulous folder
-
Yes that should work then it happened to me once
-
Can you give me a step by step retard guide please :D
Thanks guys Im not the most tech adept guy in the world ;)

Well, when you reinstalled, the installation should have created a tremulous.exe somewhere, and there should have been a folder next to it called base.
In order to successfully run Tremulous, the tremulous.exe file needs to be in the same place as the installed base folder (with data-1.1.0.pk3 in it, which contains default.cfg)

Ah you have my problem confused (probably my fault) tremulous can run fine its when I go to install GUID that the listed issue occurs.

When you install the GUID client, you need to put it where your old client was, next to the base folder. I can see from the console output that it is trying to run from the Desktop and not finding your installation files.

Ok guys Ive resolved it! Thank you all, meso happy me share creds with you longtime!
Seriously thanks guys you cant go far wrong with the support community!
LET THE ADMIN ABUSE BEGIN! :o

OK, and what exactly did you do to solve it?
-
I moved the guid app into my tremulous folder (not base)
-
put tremulous.exe in the tremulous folder
Dang Coolicus... you sure are a smart cookie

No need to resort to sarcasim. We are not all possesive of the 1337 skills which you have, and here I am thinking the idea of the support boards is to help, not put down.
-
lol, you do that quite nicely on your own.
After being told what to do, you still had problems.
And only after the second guy told you the exact same thing did you succeed.
If you really want support, then you are supposed to do what you are being told.
It doesn't take any 1337 skills to take the advice when it is given first time around...

Coolicus: ignore Caveman. We all do.

Caveman that is where you are wrong, The first poster recommended moving the tremulous.exe not the tremulous.guid. Infact it wasnt anyone who posted here who solved my problem it was Ricky AKA "HamStar" over MSN. I merely posted a message stating the problem was solved and no further imput was required. Caveman what I'd like to know is why you find yourself needing to make smart quips and puns about someones lack of understanding, this is the support forum and not some area for those with "deep emotional insecurities and those who just like to feel better than everyone else"- Im not the one to say which one you fall into but seriously man, you need to move your head out of your own backside just long enough to realise that your not big and clever, that your attitude on these forums alienates you from much of the community. Hell, you are going to get some kick I bet out of reading this and thinking "what a pathetic retard whining at me" in advance I'd like to state Im not ranting for rantings sake but hoping that the message gets across that unless you buck your ideas up or I specificaly state otherwise you will respect my desire that you do not contribute to any topics I start on these forums because you just derail them and contribute nothing useful. I know that being the intelligent young man you are you will be able to restrain yourself from flaming me. And I hope something ive said, for your own sake gets through to you.
A mans life ends with the same results as anybody elses its the way he lives his life that defines him. At the moment caveman your defining yourself as a oxymoron contridicting your own logic on many ocassions and just not a nice person to be around.
/rant off
