I just started this whole mapping thing and my first map is completely dark, the structures are still visible but the walls etc. are dark
I've already tried changing the gamma settings and using "/r_gamma 1.5"
Map made using MacRadiant
Map compiled using q3map
Any help is greatly appreciated

Make lights.
-
...Is it that simple, Am I really that retarded?
-
Well, did it work? You might want to use shader lights instead of point lights to avoid the "magic light" effect(light coming from no where). Textures surrounded by a white box in the texture selector are shaders.
-
Shader Lights always are a better choice than entity lights, light coming from nowhere at all (unless its your intention) seems unrealistic somehow.
-
Study the Arachnid2 .map for examples of how both shaderlights and entity lights can be put to good use.
-
alright cool, I haven't had the chance to try this out but thanks soo much for the help
-
Ok, I added a few point lights and ...this, happened

...What did I do wrong?

You have obviously textured you walls with caulk, a pink texture, use any other normal texture.
-
and make sure the tex doesnt have a thin gray line around it, or it means its a shader. just for the lights use shaders until you get the basic idea
-
ok, cool, thanks everybody

You're welcome. Happy mapping. :)
