Just found today, there is a way to leave yourself doing something, but actually being disconnected from the server, for example :
Bind : /bind J "+attack; wait 90; -attack; +attack; wait 90; -attack; +attack; wait 90; -attack; +attack; wait 90; -attack; buy ammo"
Causes the player entity to remain and make these actions even if the client himself has disconnected.
Also the client can reconnect and a dialog is prompted with "you has disconnected, do you want to be restored to you previous state", and the client can play, while his first entity is still continuing the action.
Not sure if it is a server bug or a Trem bug in general... This has happened on the Lakitu7's QVM

If you could post a demo, that would be a start.

If you need I can make a detailed instructions on how to get it working, since running 3 instances of tremulous to make a demo is a bit of a hassle and a big load on my PC.
I forgot to say, the J key has to be pressed several hundred of times. (not once)

You needn't worry about that, I'm sure you can find someone else to record it for you. (Pick a server, and I'll record it, if need be.)

Amsterdam Unlimited, right now.

Correction. The Tremulous process does not terminate when this is done. Client is still connected, the VIS of the first tremulous is being switched off, but there are 2 Tremulous processes, one is invisible, second one if the active player.
