Tremulous is an excellent game, very balanced, but a big lack I notice is the absence of bots.
Not everyone has the opportunity of playing online. Bots would be handy for local servers, especially with a small number of players (4, 3, 2 or even a player alone). This would make Tremulous a more interesting game. Teams would train that way and develop strategies. In addition, there are interesting maps, but most are too big for a 2vs2 player game.
I'm aware that AI is hard to implement (and that Tremulous is a multiplayer game), but wouldn't be possible to use one from the Q3A engine (is the engine of this game, right)?
P.S.: There might be people that may think that the addition of bots is a bad idea because it will "discourage" or not encourage the internet games. I don't think so, as a real player is more unpredictable. It is my believe that would turn the game more useful. Tremulous is freely available for the general public. Shouldn't it be ment for all audiences and gaming styles?

noob im sry but theres allready a bot mod
-
Sorry. I was not aware of that. Where is that mod? (and my alias is cumesoft, not noob, if you don't mind)
Shouldn't that be implemented in the base version, as a standard feature?
One more thing: Tremulous is lacking a "Settings" or "Options" option in the main menu. It is not good to setup a game first and configure the screen and keyboard after that. There are only three options in the main menu:
- Play
- Mods
- Quit

cumsoft, you really should learn to use the search button.

sry cumesoft but there really is a mod but YOU have to download it

Ok, ok! I already said I was sorry, and I've searched before. I know about the search button, what it does and how to use it. No need to be vulgar there!

I was not being ironic or making fun. I was really asking.
Could you kindly give me the URL?

http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=6163.0 -- Anime's Trembot. You need to host a dedicated server with it.
Settings/options are available with alternate UI's look in the mods forum There are some there.

Some people lack the ability to discern retards from normal people that have a question. Very sad.

Welcome to the forums, and please do not be discouraged by the over-reactive replies, the recent flow of new members was of a low quality, and after 2-3 idiotic questions made by themselves they start blaming other people for a properly stated question of a person with a lack of information.
As for your question, there are a few bots implemented for Tremulous, and I quite agree with you about the LAN parties being enhanced by a bot presence, but due to the complexity of the movement of the alien team (wallwalking) and the overall complexity of the game strategy and tactics (building, defending, attacking, movement, weapon/class choice etc.) the current bot mods do not possess a complete game experience and are rather low quality. Hence they are not implemented permanently into the game and are used by some servers ([T]Bot is a good example).
The absence of an Options in the game menu of the Tremulous was a confusion for me for the first time as well, but you can find the Options menu if you press Esc during the game (which, I am sure, you have already done).
Regards.

Hello, Cumesoft- welcome to the forums! ;)
Thanks.
I was really discouraged to visit this forum again until today. I was quite surprised by this reaction I though this was the general attitude around here, but now I see that is not true. I ask my forgiveness for my bad judgement.
I examined the Tremulous files in order to add myself the Options option in the menu (I know that there is an excellent mod with that option, along with a Screenshots option and so, but as a programmer, I like to do this myself). I managed to add that option, but I don't know how to program a *.menu file myself, or even effectively load the new menu. Is there any tutorials? I can't find nothing about "menu files" here.

Naturally, Tremulous 1.2 will feature the revolutionary option to enter the Options menu from the Main menu.

A website dedicated to the Team Arena HUD/menu scripting implementation generally regarded as the best unofficial source of information can be found here. (http://rfactory.org/hud.html) More extensive changes may have to be made to the cgame.qvm and ui.qvm modules.

Thanks. I will take a look. However, I'm not sure if I have the means or the patience for compiling a *.qvm file. +1

No, Caveman has a brain and uses it, he also spells decently, and rarely uses all capital letters.
And cumesoft, welcome to the community. I hope you enjoy your stay.

no cavemans name discribes him perfectly

No the aliens are far too complex -- and I hate connecting to a server and finding that the 8 players on the menu are all bots
