Can your laptop handle a resolution of 2048x1562? That's the resolution it's trying to set. Reinstalling will do nothing to solve the issue, as it almost never does solve anything anyway(why do people recommend reinstalling, I don't know). Open C:\Program Files\Tremulous\base\autogen.cfg in notepad, and search for "r_mode". Change its value from "10" to "-1". This sets the custom height/width mode on. Then set r_customheight to your monitor's max resolution's height(in pixels), and set r_customwidth to your monitor's max resolution's width(in pixels), and it should work.

i dont seem to have an autogen.cfg file, the only .cfg file is server.cfg

maybe, it might fix if i install the client backport????

Well according to the log you posted, it is executing autogen.cfg:
Quote
execing autogen.cfg
Search for autogen.cfg.

i did a full system search andit didnt come up with any results for autogen.cfg

That's impossible. If it's executing it obviously it exists somewhere.

you can create a shortcut with

tremulous.exe + set r_mode -1 set r_cus... etc (what Odin said) in the launch line,

or run it from cmd (Start > exec > cmd, then in cmd c:\program files\tremulous\tremulous.exe + set things)

will fix it at least temporary.

Remove any file ending with .cfg from your Tremulous folder(s). This should make Tremulous use its default resolution of 640x480. If it doesn't, you have not removed all .cfg files.

Well, you need to find autogen.cfg and delete it, or modify it to work with your monitor's resolution. It is somewhere, you just need to find it.
