Title: Joysticks/game controllers
Post by: DarqRaven on January 17, 2008, 02:04:43 am
Good Evening...

I have a Windows 2000 System with more then enough Memory (1 Gig) and 90 Gig of HD space.
I have been enjoying Tremulous greatly, but have one issue/question.

Windows sees my Logitech Duel Action Control (USB connection) but Tremulous does not.
Since this is an open source game, we should be able to find a way to make this work.
Any ideas??

The ability to use the game controller would greatly help me as I have carpel tunnel and can only play for so long via my Logitech Track ball and keyboard.

Thanks in advance..

i'm afraid that it's not easy to get a controller working well with tremulous. your best bet is to get windows to see it as a mouse (that's the only way to get any analog joysticks to work properly afaik), you'll also need to set in_joystick to 1 to get trem to use a joystick/gamepad for input. after that the only hard part is figuring out which button corresponds to which JOY# for binds.

It would be interesting to use. I have an old pc usb controller I used for an old baseball game somewhere. It would be fun to dredge it up and see if I can get it working.  :)

Get Xpadder (http://www.xpadder.com/). It works great with my Dual Action USB.

Just have Xpadder bind the gamepad buttons to keyboard buttons, and the mouse.

Also, I think you can have the official logitech software bind the buttons to keys/mouse by telling it to create a new game profile and right clicking on the buttons in the menu. I haven't tried this yet though, so I don't know if it will work. When I get back to my home computer I'll give it a shot and post the results.

there's no need to waste keyboard keys just to make your gamepad work, they are named JOY1 through JOY28 for the purpose of binds iirc
