Title: gamma settings are failing
Post by: fyzoo on January 21, 2008, 01:28:29 pm
I cant set gamma on all bar. On some level gamma sets back to dark with error SetDeviceGammaRamp failed. I cant play on dark maps cause of this. When I use menu to adjust gamma, I got one by one this error. /r_gamma gives only one error. What can I do?

Next time, post what OS you are using.

If you are on Linux, try using xgamma (I think) to set your gamma outside of Tremulous. Also, most videocard drivers allow you to mess with the gamma in the control panel accompanying the drivers.

Yes on linux you use xgamma like this

xgamma -gamma X.X   (x.x being 1.2, 1.4, 2.0 or whatever you want)

Although for me it had a habit of slipping back to 1.0 after about 10 mins, i dont know the cause so YMMV.

What about setting the gamma in .tremulous/base/autogen.cfg, Is that any different?

Mine is seta r_gamma "2.4"

I use Vista x64 HomePremium.
I set manually "2.4" in autogen.cfg, but its still not working. Console commands still gives same error or just ignore my \r_gamma 2.4. Autogen.cfg is not working.
Ive set setting with 'gamma' in NVIDIA control panel. No, its not working at all. Got 169.25 Drivers.

Maybe the Nvidia drivers are still not completely working with Vista...
