Ok i saw this Karma thing above total posts.....what does this mean?
Your over all popularity.
You can effect other's karma when you have posted enough.
Too bad we can't have Special tags like Gigolo or Slaver just like in fallout2. I'd love to see those ^^
Not to mention perks like cult of personality.
apllaude is +1 karma, smite is -1 karma. you can set it for others once in an hour.
@ChoosenOne: Grave digger maybe? :-D MeAndIwhatCAnIDoYouFor?
don't feel bad if you have a negative karma. most people here find it amusing to try and get other mara as low as possible. if you do have a positive karma though, it's probably a bigger accomplishment here than any other forum with karma. for example, Optimus' excellent artwork earned him a lot of positive karma.
*nods*
I most likely start to get negative karma soon as they find out what an ass I really am.

You mean like as in vcxzet style ass or like Lava style ass?

You mean Lava style honesty. Most people here just swallow what they want to say, so they will get no negative attention, just like in real life. I prefer people who speak out, be it to my liking or not.
Honesty and ass are very similar when you think about it, but as they say, tough love...
Also Lava, you became a lot less of an ass when you became a mod.

You think so?I see no difference.
I find it amusing that whenever I support lava or I step on someone's toes by exposing someone's futile attempts of all-knowingness my karma drops, and whenever i help people with difficult problems in the mapping forums or oppose lava it generally rises. Shows that people are usually using it for the wrong reasons.
I fluctuate roughly around zero karma. I like to think that people smite me when they see me support Lava, but then they see my picture and it evens out again. ;D *pose*

You got that right ;) xD
Lava most likely found him self needing to take more responsible stance after becoming mod.
Or maybe he just found out that:
1. If he abuses his powers he becomes total ass.
2. If he tells someone to *shows rude hand sign* he would be hypocrite by not cleaning the post away from forums.
I gess it counts on what is happening at the time. That can really tell who is the ass in the room.
Thanks all for the help!
Anyway, Go me -5 Karma!!
Lava is the only person I regularly applaud... ;)

-1.
I realised that my periodic karma dropping is showing direct proportionality with the alcohol percentage of my blood.
and i doN't afraid to applaud people right after smiting them if they show up some values (and reverse).
@Eve: i guess more people would applaud you if they would beleive that you are really a girl, but it's just too risky (especially after Name the game success), we are afraid that a certain person is outraging his feminine side under your alias. ;-)
Lava is god!
[/notsarcasm]
watch out for people like cave man they will literaly sit there all day and click the bad karma button every hour on some one reapededly

Your very first post was that pic in the Player Portraits thread, and since it has long ago become a determined fact here at the Trem.net forums that there simply are no women on the Internet (especially playing shooter games, especially on the forums of shooter games, Steely Ann/Superpie notwithstanding/exactlywhatimean), therefore, you can only be, by the twisted logic of the Internet, and since you agreed with Lava twice within your first week, a complete sock-puppet account made by some previously banned memeber who is trying to make us all look stupid by being nice to you while you troll us. Now who's paranoid? [/sarcasm should be dripping from your monitor]

I both smite and applaud you for this. :)

Maybe it is the dreaded smite-bot!
I prefer to think that I'm Neutral Good, though I might just be kidding myself.

Chaotic good FTW
By the way, chaotic does not equal bad, it just means you don't like to follow the rules. Lawful alignments prefer to to stick to the rules, even bad ones.
this explains caveman's -103 lol hes an a-hole
I'm probably in category: chaotic natural. I mean. No one wants crazy man in their party. ^^
i wonder why i wasn't a feeder in roleplaying games. sanity roll.
Well i think this whole Karma this doesn't work too well. Mostly the only reason i have -13 karma was becuase my post on 1.2. But even then if you look at last posts i losen up alot.
I dropped quite a bit since that topic as well.. thanks a lot :p
I would simply like to state i played the pre 1.2 slow turrets btw so everyone stop your hating.
My karma goes up a point a day and then back down one or two. I don't even have to post anything.
The persistent win i guess. I try to stay consistent. Good posts applaud, bad(spam) smite. Not following people around because I don't like them, not applauding them because I think their karma doesn't match my opinion. Thats how its supposed to work imho.
I rarely smite or applause.
I guess instead of karma, there should be rather "attitude", you could set it per person from a default zero within maximised limits, and then change it if you change your mind about the same forumer. the average could be the objective judgement of the community towards your presence.
so smites and applaudes wouldn't be the matter of activity, but general simpathy.
You mean like this?
Flamer
Helper
Spammer
Star
Funny
Not funny
etc.
:)
whitebear u make me smile

not even that...people can make it as low as they can get just for a couple of "haha" moments. I think they should just remove the whole thing ***OR*** make them make reasons for giving the - Karma **but** they have to be real reasons. Mabe there could be Karma Police(lol) to check all the reasons out and see if they are good or not.
but this way one person's activity can't affect your karma as much. but if you have low karma by the average judging of the community, well, that means to think some things twice.
well ever since i have been posting they dropped my Karma now to -19 don't ask me why but i gess that is who they think i am.
EDIT: no harm to Lava but i have seen him be an ass. If i some how get to -50 that mean im even with Lava with no reason. I don't get it. I really don't mean to be meen to Lava im just useing him for this EDIT
Karma 2.0:
People can post what they think of you, from 0 to 10, and can change it at a later date.
Average score is displayed publicly on your profile.
If you want to make it even more fancy, give people with higher scores higher weight when it comes to the calculation of average scores. If you could code it without recursive problems and such, I would really be impressed.
I like the idea of one vote per person that can be changed anytime. Average score from the votes. Mibie the votes of people that are inactive for month would be taken away.

if you fall below -50, your are an asshole.
if lava is falling below -50, it's because he is noble and honest.
it's all about explanation.
Now im at -22 ??? ???
w/e not a big deal. It is just i don't someone new to come on the forums and look at my karma and think im an ass when im not.
Critters, there are many kind of people here, different age, education, culture, etc.
For young people like you, it's hard to splash into the community as an instantly popular person.
Many of us are as old as your teachers, or maybe your parents.
Many of us are thinking that they are smarter than your teachers and parents.
And you are probably new to the community, so it's even harder.
words don't come easy ;-)
If karma system had existed on these forums when I joined, it would be about -1000.
But people change (in two years). ^^

HEY!!! u meany...
all i did was call caveman a single-cell ameoba, i thought ppl would applaud me for standing up to Trems critic...
heh.
Anyway w/e not a big deal. I don;t care if im popular just as long as ot doesn't get bad enough that no one is having fun. Then it gets ugly
