Hi, maybe you know my server
I decided to publish it here
it could be still a little bit buggy so i need your help to fix this
I used the google's QVM to get started in modding --> special thx to google (nice work :telenode:)

if you want to know what flag do you need in the admin.dat do

for example:

if you are planning to use the bot mode you first have to create a layout
g_chainMode [ 0 - 7 ] will change the projectile type of the chaingun
g_turretMode [ 0 -3 ] will change the projectil type of the MGTurret
!!! Turret Control kills will only be countet as realy kills, if g_turretMode==0 !!!
g_level3upgMode [0 - 1] if 0 it will be standard blob, but if it is 1 your adv goon can shoot grenades

Some good features here, athough i don't think they belong in a standard gameplay qvm.
Ill probably get flamed by some wiseass for that, but meh, who cares.
You might want to change some of those to cvars and server commands (/give) etc

this isnt just a standard game ^^ it can be played like one ^^ i love this
everyone likes the turret control thing ^^
but it takes some time to get hte ideo how it works ^^

i get some failurs when i try to create a patch

this is beyond awesome, rant swarms and grenade chaingun :D
I only want two more things out of this qvm:
1. Allow the changing of the human bots' starting weapon(g_humanbotWeapon?).
2. Make !model allow you to become a turret, reactor, acid tube, etc.
I would be eternally grateful if you would do this.
Also, what does g_chaingunmode 7 do? Doesn't seem to fire anything.

I kinda demand patch. Get help from question section if you get an error.
Patch would be helpful to sum it up with other patches and prove that there are no exploits included. No sane server admin uses this without knowing exactly what it contains.
Over all it seems to have interesting features. I'd love to try this with benmachine's mod ^^

is it wise to enable someone to controle more than one turret ??
should there be a max control range before you loose control of you turret ?

Looks like cool features, I'd love to run this on my server but not a pre-compiled one, if you have trouble making the patch just give us the errors etc.

A 'svn diff' doesn't take that long to do, and is required. People have asked for the source, you must provide it. When you do you can put the QVM download back.

there are still 3 bugs
have to fix them first (!turretc has no effect its still !justbuild; turret don't regain back control of itself when a player who uses disconnects; and a little problem in !servervars or !modinfo)

hey nero, how do i use the new !bot commands to configure additional features such as alien type...... and also how i get the bots to automatically join game on map change.

to add bots use
!bot add [NAME] [humans/aliens] [ difficulty ]
example: !bot add Bier aliens

for bot cmds do:

if you want to add bots in every game create a default.cfg in you base folder

it would be great if you create a layout for the bots you can load it with

to prevent players killing the eggs do !structDMG
--> you can add all these into the default.cfg
--> if you want to make multiple game modes do: g_mapconfigs [gametype] ( for example: g_mapConfigs bots)
and add a default.cfg in the base/[gametype]/ directory (for example base/bots/default.cfg)
on map restart or change a config file with the current mapname will be read, too
(if map is "atcs" the atcs.cfg file would be read)

nerowinger, ur english is fine as i cannot workout what your native tongue is....
anyways in regards to the bot commands i meant how do you make the aliens spawn as different species ie; dretch, tyrant etc.
and as for the defualt.cfg file under the base folder i am running a win server so which base folder? user profile one or the tremulous game folder one

you can change the spawning bots with
g_alienbotclass 0 --> dretch
g_alienbotclass 1 --> basi
g_alienbotclass 2 --> adv basi
g_alienbotclass 3 --> mara
g_alienbotclass 4 --> adv mara
g_alienbotclass 5 --> goon
g_alienbotclass 6 --> adv goon
g_alienbotclass 7 --> tyrant
i'm working on more inteligent bots which can evolve and buy weapons (will be in the next qvm released)
the default.cfg should be in your user profile base directory, but i think these folders are pretty equal (i think the files in you personal directory will be read first)
THX next release will be in one or two weeks i think

You should put the qvm in your personal tremulous/base directory, i don't know what it is on windows, but don't take the system wide one.
the tremded is the actual server, as a replacement for the builtin server in tremulous.exe.
The tremded should be in the system wide directory (not personal) in the same directory where the tremulous.exe is.

hey nero,
those alien bot class commands are not working completly example is i enter them before or after my !bot commands though they seem to spawn as one type of alien, i was after having one game with one 0,2,4,6,7 as a balance but also the defualt.cfg doesn't work in either base folder is there something i need to configure in the server.cfg to make the defualt.cfg work?

ok go to ur autogen.cfg and it will say sumthing along the lines of seta g_admin_weapons 0 and seta g_admin_upgrades 0.......change them 0 to 1s and they should work for u... but me i made a command for them so i can try to have a normal game sumtimes and nero is ther a way i can make turrets normal insted of 25hp a shot.and also whats the the seta g_isitcrazy 1 do in the autogen????

I checked the patch and noticed that you had only one original thing. That was the turret control. I would like to see that as separated patch. Scrapping anything from over 10000 lines of code is pain in the ass. Possibly add the turret control into mg patch tracker and I love ya.
I know it might be easier to test stuff by adding them into same code with rest of the qvm but what server operators truly want is separated features they can sum up for their needs and then compile it. I am not going to demand anything but turret control is pending until we have time to scrap it from your patch or for you to release it as separated.

the g_isItCrazy is just to see how much of my servers are online =)
i dont really know howto deal with these patches (i dont know how the patch mechanism works)
maybe later when i have more time i will give xou a turretc patch ... but definitly not now

i thought of this too, i was already able to give the humans teh ability, but it looks pretty funny, humans dont turn upsidedown if you are on the top =)
the wallwalk functions are pretty complicated =)
i'm working on a teamkill punishment system =)) i think this will be very funny

You need a client-side download for human wallwalking to work properly (make the view and model turn upside down).
What kind of TK punishment are you talking about?

and i think you know the !gfx function ...
i added !myfx ... with the blaster you can save some positions (32) and play an effect at this positions
(!myfx 3) this would play a tesla effect between these points and your player... (range limited)
!model function now works without respawn (!model level4) would change your model to a tyrant

these were the instructions for windows
Windows

1) make the directory:
\Documents and Settings\YOU\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous\base\vm
where "YOU" is your windows username.
2) copy game.qvm into this "vm" directory
3) copy win32/tremded.exe to where Tremulous is installed.
(next to tremulous.exe)
4) open up a command prompt (cmd.exe)
5) change to the directory where you put tremded.exe
6) run it:
tremded.exe +set dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg
number 4 i dont have a cmd.exe anywere in my tremulous folder

how can i fix this?

i think you have a
vms*.pk3 in your base folder (the base folder in your "Documents and Settings" ...... directory)
make a copy of that file on your desktop or somewhere else and remove the file from your base directory
try now to start the server ....
maybe you have now problems to start your tremulous .. if this happens, check if in "C:\Program Files\tremulous\base\"
is a vms*.pk3 if not, compy your vms*.pk3 into this directory ....
(with linux this has worked for me =)) report in if it was successful

Or more likely you are not using the updated tremded.exe.
Download the new one at http://tjw.org/tremulous/win32/tremded.exe and replace the old one with it.

Should there be a client mod too ??
++ There would be lot more possibilities of modding
-- Client has to download the mod files the first time they join
+ third person wouldn't be a problem anymore
+ some modifications could use less bandwith
+ graphical admin interface

i could do it today =)
blaster is now upgraded again .. if you are admin you can shoot with your third fire button (mouse wheel or ENTER button)
than write !myfx 3 (for example .. it will play a custom effect.. i will add a cvar where you can deactivet it whenever you want)
with !spModels you can spawn a Model of a buildable (it is really weird ... was only a test -> have to limit the count of spawnable models)
with !spModels -100 you can remove all models you've spawned
!trail creates a trail by it's Victim f.e. !trail nero
just try it out .. its limited by g_maxTrails [num]
I will release it in some hours

It's not exactly what he wants, but i think this helps him.

!justbuild causes the servers to go into a loop if enabled during map change. !justbuild prevents buildables from spawning at the beginning of the game.
EDIT : Can someone help me? My server enables !justbuild automatically and I have to !justbuild from console to stop the looping. Fixed, changed seta g_buildEverywhere "1" to seta g_buildEverywhere "0" in my autogen.cfg

i'll fix this today ... don't know how but i'll try
if this dont work ... add it to your
default.cfg // or whatever cfg file runs at your mapchange ...

Anyway, there's no support by default to build specific QVMs, but as Thomsen said you can build all of them or none of them. You can also go into the Makefile and comment out the right bits, but that's not easy.

Was this on purpose? If you haven't selected any turrets to control, right clicking while using blaster while having a bot will cause the bot to shoot instead.

Wonderful funny mod :)
Starting from next release, you should just add a "readme.txt" file with a complete list of all commands and variables.

I don't get the gamemode. Race to the finish line, alive, with a rant being shot with tons of turrets?

Booster wall, great for aliens, bad for humans.

Nah, I did it with !instantbuild. Sigh, I gotta take down my server, it hogs up bandwidth...And it lags for people outside South East Asia.

if you build to much, every client gets the position names classname modelindex etc. of the buildings
(trails and bots, too)
if you want to run an unlimited server you have to use a vserver or something else, they've just a bigger bandwith

is there a command that allows you to enable !weapons, !upgrades, and !ammo?
i don't want to restart the server every time i want to enable them :-\

I found a bug. Aliens, when they evolve while outlawed, the outlaw clears so they don't outlaw anymore.

It's the same as if you do /god on a devmap, and than evolve, you no longer have god powers.

It's because you respawn.

I would wager that the outlaw state is being cleared on class change because of the (somewhat related) issue here (http://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3545).

And also !turretc and !proxmines don't work for me but that is just me. HOPE THIS WILL HELP

1) The trappers not trapping aliens is a bug.
2) g_onlyOneOM 0 DOES allow you to build multiple OMs, how else did I make my OM tower(previous page)?
3) Umm, what are you talking about? As I load a map you load a new one???
4) !turretC and !proxmines do work.
EDIT : I think your map bug is due to a older version of the qvm. In older versions, !justbuild causes buildables to not spawn and caused the server to change maps forever.

to find what i mean is go to a tremulous1.1 server then call a vote time limit 999999 and you will see what i mean. as soon as the server loads a map it loads the next one in the rotation. and !turretc i change to my blaster and i cant get the turret to shoot. and the multi om doesn't work for me but the multi reactor does! i am just reporting what bugs i get and those are all of them. GREAT WORK! only 3 and 1 that is just because i am to stupid to find out how to use it (!turretc)

I love the qvm its amazing, but atm if turretC is off you can still controll turrets. SOMETIMES g_onlyoneOM dosent work Nade spam with chaingun is a bit laggy, i think if proxmine is on and aliens chuck a nade that if a human goes near it it should go b00m :), but other than that the qvm is amazing =]

Don't use tremded.exe to play trem, its only for running servers ;D Or you don't have a data-1.1.0.pk3 which is impossible.

if you set g_alienbotclass 0 the bots evolve to nearist class, its fun because then you dont need to keep doing g_alienbotclass to make them evolve and all the bots can be diffrent :) .

no, the remoteable rocket isn't this hard to implement
... it would be the same technic like the turretcontrol,
---> draw a line between the player and the point you are looking at... than get the position of the point where the line hits something solid
than let the rocket tourn slowly (while moving) into the direction of the solid point,
=)
i could do this, the only problem is, that the bots get invincible because the bots are all aimbotters
i just use the
make command
but i think it uses the gcc compiler
(i use Ubuntu and i have just installed the gcc the cpp header files etc. whatever this is xD)

Or even *somehow* give them ping?

you don't have to compile the patch, you have to get the base source code of the svn revision 966
and patch it like it is discribed in much posts on this forum
than go in the directory where the patched sourece code is and
use the Makefile (command: make)
---> you need a unix system or a "wannabe" unix system for windows xD

you didn't clarified that you have can only control turrets by pressing r with blaster out a guy made me give him level 5admin before he told me good thing i was level 6 :).

Nah, it has some pretty useful stuff in it. Actually they are usually the ones who come up with some good stuff and then it gets ported to other qvms. But there some stuff in it that I don't really like.

Don't use this qvm... at least you should update it... its fully of bugs....
The cvar is: g_adminFx

- >=2 will enable the delay between effects.
Note: don't abuse, you can get a really high fps lag

I downloaded the QVM and pasted it to base/vm, started the server and all the commands are there, but...
When I join a team i can't spawn... It doesn't even show the menu where I choose rifle or construction kit.
It says:
Cannot build on this surface. This surface is too steep or unsuitable to build on. Please choose another site for this structure.
??? ???
Same thing goes for the alien team... And yeah btw. when I execute "!bot add Bot_1 aliens" nothing happens ???

That's because this QVM is buggy as hell. Go get a real one.

First off, as Syntac said, it should be mentioned that its been sometime since this Qvm (Or any Qvm for that matter) was updated. Second, the error your getting is what I get when I have sv_pure off, or on. Usually what I do is switch the sv_pure my server is on, it may or may not work for you.

2 questions:
1) How would I remove Bsuit from !upgrades command and make armour only for humans? It takes FOREVER to kill some one when they have both :<
2) How can I make this patch lakitu7 compatible? It has a lot of the same stuff but it's like different and stuff >.<
