Kind of a confused first post, but we'll try to help you out.

First, I prefer the human team.  The alien team is too hard for me, or rather, it's too hard for me to play as a Dretch.  At least sometimes I can kill something with a rifle.

Which maps are you looking for?

GtkRadiant is used to make the maps, and it might be possible to use Quark, but I am not sure.

http://akka.r1.cx is where the AKKA beta maps are. (gloom2beta1 and meep_b1)

Map making: most common is radiant. Varies which version in which most are comfy with.

All of the aliens require lots of practice to master, even the Tyrant.  Humans are more general and easier to pick up, but you do have to learn how to deal with specific enemies and what situations to stay away from.  Ultimately you should learn to play an alien before you can be a really good human.

I'll never forget the moment I discovered how to play a dretch (which I thought was an unbelievably lousy critter until that moment.)  Suddenly I was a killing machine.  (until helmets and jetpacks and flamers..)

That's also when I learned to kill aliens with some modicum of effectiveness.

And it helps to attack from behind so you have the element of surprise.  Sometimes, one bite is all it takes.  If you're lucky.

I did get a ninja headbite today, though.  Bastard didn't even know I was there.  I just about crapped myself with glee.

Too bad basilisk is so damn hard to play, though.

Practice is all it takes, everyone has his own style for best killing humans as alien, though i think it's best to jump on thr RIGHT moment, but that differs from every player when he thinks its best to jump for the head, it's all n your judgement skill   .

yeah, for dretch and marauders its most effectively while jumping. Dretch at the peak so he can slam into someone's head, or if he's in a corner aim just over him so you hit the walland then aim down to chow through the top of his head.

For marauders due to height you need to plan when to bite, either at the start of your jump or at the end.
