Robotech: Macross Saga, its the show that got me addicted to anime
-
Fullmetal Alchemist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wPqZOJrPFo)
-
I've seen so many so I want to name few too. From comedy category probably sayonara zetsubou sensei and it's second season (zoku sayonara zetsubou sensei) are best. Black lagoon was action great but the end did not really have a plot.
Top three would be:
1. Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi (first ep released while ago. Gave awesome impression).
2. CLANNAD (Drama with Comedy spice.)
3. Spice And Wolf (If history lessons would have been with story like this would have not skipped any of them)
I would have said Rosario + Vampire if they were to get to the good half of manga.
-
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon.
Shut up.
-
School Rumble before the dubs. Epic.
-
Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex ;D
-
Hentai Tentacles.
-
Atm gundam 00 is entertaining enough to hold my attention. Otherwise something like initial d. Not flagrantly over the top.
-
My all time top 5:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya
Death Note
FLCL
Welcome to the NHK
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni
-
1. Robotech: Macross Saga
2. Bleach
3. Spice and Wolf (just watched it)
-
1: SNBv1-v6
2: fullmetal alchemist
3: bleach

I can't remember what it's called.
It's the one about the giant robots.

I think maybe it was a joke. Hey kozak6 - was there a girl in a school outfit in it? That'll help narrow it down...
-
I haven't actually watched any anime in a long long time, but I used to watch Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing and Bleach.
-
Whole time favs:
Initial D: (awesomeness)

And of course, dragon ball (anything before cell), ghost in the shell, evangelion and robotech. Those are classics :P

My all time top 5:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya
Death Note
FLCL
Welcome to the NHK
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni
The top 2 on those list are epic win. Haven't seen the others though, will have to check them out.
-
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya
Death Note
FLCL
Welcome to the NHK
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya - Amusing but the episode order was quite messed up. The male protagonist was great character but CLANNAD has similar one and beats him in comedy.
Death Note - gets boring after ******** dies. (no spoilers right ^^)
FLCL - Quite epic.
Welcome to the NHK - Hilarious if you know the background a bit (first episode doesn't tell it clearly enough.)
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni - I've seen till the 8th episode and that was enough. Quite sick series. If you like that kind of stuff you probably love MPD Psycho manga.
-
My top five favorite Anime:
- Neon Genesis Evangelion
- FLCL
- Cowboy Bebop
- Full Metal Alchemist
- Trigun
-
i am very sad that noone mentioned Ninja Scroll, Akira, and the basic Ghost in the shell.
miss a single one of theese, and i can tell you that you've never ever seen any animation film related to the whole far-east.
(cowboy bebop is in the same list)
p.s.: why the hell they made bruce wayne so fragile in the new batman??? i could imagine so much more "owner" batman than that...
-
Ninja Scroll (the first one, anyway) was excellent
Akira was also quite good
However, I would consider them "movies", instead of "shows" (Ghost in the Shell, too).
-
I've seen ninja scroll but I was sad for not finding eng subbed version. And if it's dubbed I don't count them (eng dub lacks feeling).
Ghost In Shell's first episode did not give good enough impression to hook me so I gave up on it.
Akira never seen but probably end up watching it soon as I get bored to some other series. (I would be watching anime non-stop if I'd watch every thing that is released + old ones). And I got mapping to do and trem to play.
-
1. Death Note
2. GantZ
3. Air Gear
4. Lucky Star
-
It said favorites. What the masses consider a favorite does not have to be a favorite for me.
-
Hmm, favorite anime movies, as supposed to shows?
- Akira
- Ghost in the Shell
- Princess Mononoke
- Ghost in the Shell
- Howl's Moving Castle
- Grave of the Fireflies (BTW, if you ever find it, its a sad, sad, sad movie, but still good and NOT a chick-flik
-
techhead, I agree with GofF, very sad indeed :'(
-
I say Naruto/Naruto:Shippuden. But that's just me.
-
If any, Naruto.
Anime lost its appeal to me at the age of 12.
I watch FireFly now :D
-
The Golden Age of Science Fiction is 11.
Fist of the North Star was a weird anime movie; the ultra-violence was pretty strange.
-
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya - Amusing but the episode order was quite messed up. The male protagonist was great character but CLANNAD has similar one and beats him in comedy.
I didn't like it at first.. but i think the order it was originally aired in really made it better. I left out episode 4 i think (the baseball one) and ended up watching it last and I really like that one as a last episode.. i haven't watched them in DVD order yet.. not sure if i want to since the TV order was perfect. Heard along about CLANNAD.. guess i'll have to check it out.
Death Note - gets boring after ******** dies. (no spoilers right ^^)
It changes but i don't think it gets boring.. I think the whole resolution was excellent because they didn't dig themselves into too much of a hole. I think they stopped cluing you in to what each side was fully doing as much as they had been previously because that ended up being a lot of the end and maybe that is why you say that.
Welcome to the NHK - Hilarious if you know the background a bit (first episode doesn't tell it clearly enough.)
? Background of what ? do you mean like the manga?
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni - I've seen till the 8th episode and that was enough. Quite sick series. If you like that kind of stuff you probably love MPD Psycho manga.
You definitely have to go to the end. Its not too long before the whole damn thing stops making sense and they don't even really start to touch on why that is until the last few episodes... couple of scenes though.. definitely not for the weak hearted.
GotF really let me down. The animation was good.. but you are set up for the end in the very beginning or from the box summary even. The trip there didn't really do anything for me.
Also didn't care for ninja scroll when I saw it.. maybe because that one woman kept taking breaks to get raped every couple of minutes or something.. probably re-watch it eventually.. but i think both of those movies are a bit over-rated.
-
k, k, if 'shows' and single movies are handled differently in this thread, then i didn't say a word...
but i cannot imagine any discussionn about manga without mentioning Akira.
i beleive that we are doing something like the dude did in the film, we are having supernatural abilities trough tremulous, we are having the power of our imagination, and we sacrifice so much time doing this otherwise useless habit.
we own. :-)

-Elven Lied (blood, gore, awsome!!)
-Lucky Star
-Club-To-Death Angel Dokuro-chan
-Trigun
-Gunslinger Girl
-
Ooh, forgot about Gunslinger Girl, that was awesome :D
-
-Elven Lied (blood, gore, awesome!!)
-Lucky Star
-Club-To-Death Angel Dokuro-chan
-Trigun
-Gunslinger Girl
Elven Lied - It was ok. Gore does not really give much reaction to me but I like the fact that the humans are fragile unlike in shónen manga/anime.
Club-To-Death Angel Dokuro-chan - I just loved the opening song.
Lucky Star - Great comedy. I some of my self in Konata.
Trigun - It was good at first but when the story started to go more to the sci-fi part I enjoyed less.
Haven't seen Gunslinger Girl yet. Sounds like one of those anime series that are targeted to moe loving NEET.
But really. You are missing one important Japanese animation show that's original story and setting was written by Finn author Tove Janson. And that my dear friends is Muumit (Translated name would be Muumi Trolls) and every Japanese adult knows this. (Thats why Finland is popular there.)

The Moomins?? Ya, I'f seen it, liked it in my (very) young years.
-
Well the books (not picture ones but the original work) are directed to bit older audience. But the animation is good too (in form of humor as older). ^^
-
muumin owns, i've got the book from my ex girlfriend, straight from suomi, i've been there, finland rox :-)
iT's better than Winnie t3h pooh IMHO...
-

If all you like about elven lied is the blood and gore you don't deserve to watch it. It had a deep storyline and they picked great music to go along with it. The orchestration was beautiful. The show was very excellent and the manga was even better.
-
Re: Tove Jannson
Thanks for the info. I'll check out her stuff. Now I know where Kaziorvb got the sig.

I didn't care for Elfen Lied.. it took it up a notch with the violence. The stupid defenseless female with an alter ego thing that was done a lot better in chobits though. There were too many times I smacked my head at how stupid a situation had become and it seemed like it was going way overboard to try to manipulate your emotions to feel a certain way about how something was happening or about a character. I'd rather have them work at shaping that opinion than slapping you in the face with it until you just accept it in defeat.
Gunslinger girl I bought without knowing too much about on some good recommendations and people saying the animation was really good and the story was solid...
Watched the first few episodes and then dropped it for a while before picking it back up. Definitely glad I picked it up again. Waiting for the second season.. I'd like for it to have more of a story arch or something though. The episodes focus more around the circumstance for the fratello than anything else which it does well but it feels like it is wandering around.

I must admit, it was the gore that made me watch the series, and what I found was that it wasn't the blood or gore which made it interesting, but the psychological violence. I'm sorry if I made you think bad about me.
I love the series, and I strongly recommend it.
Never read the manga tough. Ill search for it :D
