Title: trem resets my driver
Post by: + OPTIMUS + on February 28, 2008, 05:33:19 pm
hiez, i have some problems with the resolution what tremulous is using.
i've searched the resolution threads a bit but judging by the short versions my problem is different.

the thing is: tremulous resets my video driver and desktop resolution.

it falls down to a maximum 12..x1024 resolution and i can only fix it with reinstalling my driver and a full system restart.
i hope the problem is easy to fix, if not, i'll give more details later when i can sacrifice the time for continuous reinstalls and resets to capture and copy errors <.<

i run a dual 2,6GHz 3GB mem machine with WinXP with a SyncMaster275 27Coll monitor (so maybe there could be some issues about it's widescreen maybe <.<)
the vid card is a Radeon X300/X550/X1050 series one, i guess i have the latest driver (some Catalyst one).

i can change resolution inside tremulous, but not to a higher value than the forementioned reduced resolution, no matter if it was higher before on windows desktop. when exiting or with Alt+Tab it keeps the game's resolution when going back to windows, and i cant set it higher.
when trying to set it higher ingame again, an error comes that it can't run on fullscreen mode. what is strange because if i set lower or not screen-fitting serolutions it doesn'T covers the full monitor and the desktop is visible even if it's not working as in window mode.

there were not hardware or software changes.
ingame, i was on mod and 1.2servers so that may have changed some ingame settings, but idn if that matters.

...

...or i'm obviously noob and that's the main problem? :-)

*reinstall didn'T help

What desktop resolution do you use?

1920 x 1200, and in trem i used to bring the old school 800x600.

the only reason i could figure out in software changes, that there was an automatic windows update when i turned my back to the machine...

and i realised that other games are leaving their resolutions on my screen also...

but now since i reinstalled tremulous, and reinstalled the driver a couple of times, some change happened: resolution fixes when reinstalling. but fails after starting the game(s) again.
