Title: help needed with TJW server behind router
Post by: kudorgyozo on March 02, 2008, 05:29:06 pm
Hello downloaded TJW's server program some time ago to play some private matches/practice with a friend of mine. All was working fine when i had direct internet access. But now I have a shared internet connection and I am behind a router. I have configured the router to forward the 32123 port and configured tremded.exe to use the 32123 port. But I am unable to connect. I know how to use other programs for example bittorent clients, web servers, ftp servers, and how to forward the ports when i'm behind a router. I really don't know why the tremulous server doesn't work. Does it matter if i'm playing on the same machine on which the server is running?

some nat implementations will choke when you try to connect to something behind the nat from behind the nat using an external ip, check if other people can connect, and if they can just use localhost/your ip on the lan to connect.

nobody can connect, the port is not open. I really dont know why. I have configured the router the same way i do for other server programs. Does the Tremulous server think that i'm on a LAN? Does the server behave differently if i'm behind a router? Im a noob at this.

So long as you do +set dedicated 2 it won't care your on lan.
You also need to set the forward up with UDP not TCP.

i can only connect to localhost, like this: "/connect localhost:32123". My friend cannot connect to me. In the port forwarding i selected BOTH. (TCP and UDP). Any ideas?  ???

OK, I solved the problem... I have a direct link again  ;D
