I launch trem, it goes fullscreen, changes resoluiton and freezes. Have to press ctrl+alt+f1 and killall tremulous and change resolution back.
I have a 22" widescreen monitor and GeForce FX5200

I thought it is resoluiton problem but my ALSA sound system stopped working one of these days and I had to reconfigure all apps to OSS.
What can I do?

Yay! Solved problem by uninstalling package libsdl1.2debian-alsa and installing libsdl1.2debian-oss
(I have Ubuntu 7.10 and used Synaptic)
