but i want's to know if punk buster will be add to the next release ?

Punkbuster is commercial software. If they would like to include it, they would have to pay for it.
If someone wants to sponsor it... :D

No need for the PunkBuster. The community is so small that we can track players and ban them to hell if they manage to cheat :D.

humm i think we can't see a good cheater  :P
i play at TCE and only the PB screenshot show us that some "good" players in reality are bad cheater ...
i hope Tremulous with Q3 engine is not infested by cheaters but some times with some ppl .......
I love this game , i want to play at Tremulous for a long time and i don't want to see that (http://nightbringer1.free.fr/divers/lancheater.wmv) here

Sad fact is the more popular it gets the higher the chance it will gather a cheating element.

PunkBuster doesn't really work that well and there is always a way around.
Everyone thought Q3 was cheater safe and then came OGC :/

I haven't seen anyone with insane aim on db@ servers yet, of course there are some lamers that think even i got some "tools".
Those are usually ppl that move in straight line and are amazed when being hit :)

not exactly cheating but I just played a game with someone called "speedy" who used some bug taht allowed him instant pounce with dragoon. helped him until he was votet out...  :roll:

That might be related to the 'steamtrain effect' you get when holding pounce and then holding ~ for the console, you basically build up a series of mini pounces which only stops when you hit a wall, and you can build up insane speeds.

Instant pounce?

It is possible to charge up a pounce while in midair, and then pounce again right as you land.

What would happen if you modded Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory to work like Tremulous ? I mean, it's free and it has punkbuster support.

Does anyone know if TC:Elite is still protected by PB ?

I for one do not miss Punkbuster.  Sure people will cheat, but they still cheat in ET even with PB.  There's an undetected public cheat more often than not.

The great part about Tremulous being GPL and using ioquake3 is that we (https://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2701) can (https://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2700) fix (https://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2707) exploits, even in the engine (https://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2719).  As for the GL hacks and sv_pure circumvention, as a server operator I don't loose any sleep over banning obvious cheaters.

For those players who are either cheating slyly, or just so good that they ruin everyone else's game I don't feel too bad encouraging them to play elsewhere by setting the server to drop a few of their packets here and there. Afterall, this is a game and it's meant to be entertaining.  If a player is untouchable by all opponents then he/she should find a server that is a better match skill-wise.

Know what you mean, since I'm practicing with the mass driver alot lately, I get that at least once a day by someone who moves in straight lines or otherwise really predictable patterns. :roll: If they knew that something as simple as increasing the default mouse sensitivity a little helps with aiming/killing dretches.... ah well, would gladly install something like PB if it shuts them up though - if PB runs on linux-64 ie.

Stands for Online Gaming Cheat, has built in wallhack, aimbot, autoshooter and things i can't even imagine.
I know there was some strange bot for counter strike where a bot could aim just by "listening" to the sound of footsteps :)


b0rsuk you can't just copy/paste the code from tremulous to ET, it's a bit different and you can't do everything with mods either.


PunkBuster wouldn't do much against ingame bugs.
