edit: you should remove the trem 1.1.1 thing, it was to get a protocol 70 client running to connect to tjw's server, but the server is no longer up and the protocol has changed again since then

What if marauder could hold onto a wall for up to 2-3 sec if you hold space, and then jump if you release? That way it is easier to get to difficult to access areas and get down jetcampers.

We also have a list of all the released vsays commands. (Think counter strike or Call of Duty.) Here is one example:

There really hasn't been anything new lately, I'm going to work on a post about mark decon today but that's pretty old/general knowledge. We were going to post a link to the manual for 1.2, but DeathOnIce didn't want to because Khalsa made him feel bad about it. Death's a pansy :(
So far this little website has been pretty successful, dot.tk tells me that tremulousnews.tk (http://tremulousnews.tk) (which only directs to trem.milesmac.com (http://trem.milesmac.com)) has recieved over 350 hits (although there have only been a few in the last couple days as the amount of things to report declines and people switch to RSS and Atom feeds) which is a quite a few for some simple little blog less than a couple of weeks after it started. Me, DeathOnIce and Mooseberry make no money from this, as we don't use any advertisements--although I'm sure that dot.tk has made a considerable amount.
Tips@tremulousnews.tk (tips@tremulousnews.tk) now forwards to my personal email. You can submit your own story or new information to it and you will will be credited (meaning we say your name in the post, not monetary :) for your effort unless you wish to remain anonymous. When DeathOnIce and Mooseberry get done with school today I plan to ask their permission for tremulousnews.tk email forwards to their personal ones.

For example, the address to my old old site WestGames now leads to a... less comfortable site. And there are still links out there, I just hope no kids click them.

Well Death, when it rains outside my primary computer's internet stops working because I have my DSL phone line hanging out my bedroom window (I don't have an ethernet cable quite that long) which shorts out when it gets wet. So when it rains, I have to move my modem and other various networky things upstairs to the room where I run the phone line from. The reason I need to do this is because my parents will not allow me to drill holes through the walls in our house and because my current operating system is incompatible with the Windows-only wifi usb adapters I own. I cannot use other computers to set up the emails because I do not know my dot.tk password, but my primary computer does while refusing to relinquish it in any form besides asterisks.

One thing that I didn't see on there was if we would be able to keep cfg's from 1.1 and use them on 1.2; just finding it hard to let go of since I just finished refining it all.

I'd be surprised if the configs need substantial modification from 1.1 to 1.2 - There probably won't be any syntax or format changes unless trem moves to a different engine altogether.

Thanks, I didn't know about this because I haven't been playing for a LONG time. Think I will start when 1.2 officially releases. 1.2 is looking to be a big improvement and this would be and understatement.

Well the thing I like the most about all of this is that its being developed not only by the origional creators, but also by players that have learned to do developement so it is able to adress common issues like deconning, with the mark decon method, which will encorage even more people to play, leading to more developers. So the game keeps being developed and never gets old. :laugh:

I personally hate mark decon. The main reason being if you want to decon something. Not just move/replace it. E.g. the reac/a turret is going to explode, but i cant decon it. It sucks when its humans, since one building exploding hurts many (e.g. 5) in the vicinity. Now, couple that with rant/sniper spam, and its game over whether you like it or not.
If decon was enabled, then only that ret would be gone, the rest of the base would be fine = less repairing = more building = better chance of survival.

In most recent qvms, there is a cvar "g_decondead" that, when on, allows the deconning of dead structures, no matter the mark-deconstruct status or even the buildings protection state. (!designate)

We have hosting. We even have a domain. But thanks to a shitty blogging format, every single link on the blog (or at least the vast majority) is based on the domain. It's not local, therefore all the links are something like 'http://milesmac.com/blah'. Would take quite a bit of time to correct. I even have the entire site + database backed up, hosting is not the problem, though we appreciate the offer.
So, we are left with several choices:
1. Spend the time to correct the link errors
2. Transfer the posts to a new blogging format
3. Start over on a new blogging format (aka not salvage the posts, just post current ones)

Dretches can now damage any human structure while it is still building, but can no longer damage turrets and teslas that have been completed.

I read the new ideas and I have some concerns. It appears that when the new Trem comes out, humans will have a far larger advantage. Sure, Adv Goons are at S2. But the dretchs, who can no longer sneak up on the base due to increased turret damage and range or destroy the turrets, will struggle immensly to reach S2. These humans, who now have a 'dodge/sprint' button and their new fangled rifles should shoot down these dretchies far more easily.
to sum it up: Aliems=Fail to Humies.
PS: I completely love the new look for all the weapons and Aliens! The Goon confused me abit, but I think you were just showing a model of the head/body not the entire Goon. The Humans Battlesuit should no be pink. It should look like a transformer of sorts.

a scope would have a body and an output lens to an input lens.
also that shotgun is FUCKING SEXY! i love it!

I don't see a point in putting a red dot sight on a shotgun, especially considering you can't scope anyways in trem, so far. Also, las guns are pretty much perfect accuracy, so there is no point in one on a las gun either.

a. there are crosshairs, I don't need to aim it. We aren't trying to be super realistic. Would you rather have to use iron sights or red dot scope of every weapon and not be allowed to have a crosshair?
b. "calm down etc" Maybe you don't understand, but there is this thing called feedback. Most mature people recognize that different people have different opinions, and often share them with others. I hope you will use this new info I just told you to re-read my post and recognize something.

all of the projectiles pretty much fire within the circle thats there now on the shotgun so a red dot or crosshair COULD lower accuracy cause you would spend more time aiming instead of firing in a general area.
On chaingun ive noticed it fires the first two bullets just outside the circle and the third inside so maybe it could benefit more from red dot then shotgun.

I think a tutorial on your main menu would be nice. Let me explain a little.
You click "Tutorial" and you are sent to a single player Space Base. Kind of like the beginning of Halo 2. From there implement real players from tremulous who have played for a long time, and one or two clans who have played for a long time and have them be in the Base with you. You have players who have played and helped tremulous I.e Superpie and lets just say he would be you guide. He will walk you around to different sections of the Base where you learn all the basics of tremulous. You have it to where other players who have helped are actual people on the ship that are Captians or your basic crew men that each have some usefull information they would tell you to help you get to know basics. As your guide walks you through the ship to meet your captains and higher ranked players all from actual players of the game, he will then take you a clan. Im going to use OPP for this example. Your guide drops you off and now each member of the clan would show you how to do basic things, battle movements, what each button does, go over each weapon and allow you to test each one, Basic defense equipment,and basically go over everything you need to know to start off as a human. With each member of that clan teaching you a different thing. And of course after that they put you in a contained battle against some dretches the humans have caught and allow you to practice until you are content. Then you will be able to battle along side of them and fight bigger aliens to show importance of teamwork in tremulous. Of couse the humans and aliens will be bots. After completion of this your guide comes again and takes you to your seargent, or what ever you wana call him and he will pass you on now becoming a marine. After that you are free to move about the ship and go over anything with any of the people on the ship if you didnt understand anything. Thats my basic idea. There is more to the humans but i dont wana type it all out if you guys feel its a dumb idea.
Of course I also have a tutorial for the aliens already planned out in my head. Its basically the same as humans only there are some changes of course. I.e you in a alien lair and they dont speak the make alien sounds and on the bottom of your screen it tells you what they are saying. And some other changes. The real life trem players used as humans are not the same as aliens. To allow more players to be invovled int his we would use differnet players and a different clan.
If you guys like my idea please say so. If not say you dont lol. If its a good idea and maybe a Dev wants to try it out. I would be more than happy to help out. I think this idea would greatly help new players a lot, and help better players because then you dont have to worry about them feeding, or getting in the way or asking questions all the time.

they wouldnt have to help. all your need is the Devs to make it. The players would simply just volunteer there names to be used, which I dont see who hy they wouldnt. It would just take some time to make it. Thanks for your opinion though

Meh doesnt tink that thats the actual pusle rifle. From the MD5s he put up the gun seems to be the shotgun.

Legs would have to be done a heck of a lot better than Smokin' Guns. They just make it look really cheesy.
Maybe not iron sights, but definitely a zoom feature for every weapon (except heavy ones like the painsaw, cannon, and flamethrower of course). And if you did that, you should probably add an extra zoom to the Mass Driver as well.

It's updating daily. Just it only has a couple of devs who have real jobs to do too, so it's not going to keep up with the engines that have massive teams working on them full time.

some effects is not mutch hard to make:
in turok's video, see the pulse rifle impact effect(in 1:40), its cool for tremulous's prifle and lgun.
and the explosion effects? see in 2:20(grenade launcher), its cool to Lcannon,(i like the smoke).
in 2:37(alien weapon), this effect is good to Mdriver.
in 4:04, Lcannon in full force? its fine to me,like a BFG,rsrs

Lucifer Cannon is not a Grenade Launcher so massive explosions are not needed (Fusion Cannon was just... lol. Not very Tremulous-ish). The circle effects for Mass Driver would be nice but it is not important. You may create the animations for it as it is easy to do.
Automatic shotgun looks cool, though. What is BFG?

i've already made an auto shotty (with the halp of Seeeker)
and its pretty good in gameplay with balance and such i have a counter alien i made for it and they work fine. but i'm guessing devs wil lstay to the plans which is good. i really like the old style look of the weapons it matches ;D

yes, temulous be tremulous, but, some graphical improvements could be made:
former: burn effects(good in flamethorower and Lcannon)
