I've seen players in game with colorful names. Is this considered bad game edict? If not, how do I do it?
-
This is not considered bad manners. Ingame names are still white and you don't see your enemy's names so there are no disadvantages in color.
People use them in clan tags or just to fortify their identity in trem. Colors are added by typing ^x in your name where x is a number from 0 to 9. All text following ^x will have the designated color.

Only black bothers me. And no, I don't know how to do it but it's probably the same than in Quake 3 whihc should be easy enouth to google for.

Quake 3 names use the ^ character to specify a colour for the rest of the following characters : i.e. "^1kris" would be "kris" in red!
colour codes are :
0:black
1:red
2:green
3:yellow
4:blue
5:lightblue
6:purple
7:white

for some reason u cant do ^8name for black the console wont recognize the color right so for a black name ull have to use ^^8name with 2^'s which will give u the black name but a white ^ in front of it
also i dont really use black except for name tag.. i wear it for a gamer friend who passed away..
also i notice with some server there are invalid color codes???
could someone list these invalid codes so i can fix it cause i still c people with color in thier name but my name isnt valid??

Just rewrite your name on an other server, and make sure you don't use double ^'s

Also if you want to make your names colored real quick, you can use name maker studio. just make sure the game is set to quake 3
