I'm not sure if there is a topic like this already but if there is i couldn't find it anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew how to set up a dedicated server on a mac. I tried using FOOBAR's guide but some of it didnt make sense like the whole <MAIN> <USER> thing as the file paths were displayed as the would be on a PC. but anyway, the main problem I come across is knowing where to place the tremded.... this has me stumped =/
-
So long as the tremded is next to a base folder (containing the data and vms pk3s) it doesn't matter where it is. Some people put it next to their client, which is fine so long as you keep your base folder clean.
-
problem is, the folder with the main base and the client in it is called tremulous 20060704 apparently can't be altered, or so my computer tells me, and the only other base file is the one in my library/application support/tremulous folder or is it okay to put it in that base folder, cause that's where my vm folder is
-
Probably not, because that base folder probably doesn't have data-1.1.0.pk3 and vms-1.1.0.pk3.
You'd be much better off either solving your permissions issue (select folder, Cmd-I, Ownership/Sharing and Permissions) or creating a new folder for your Tremulous server in Applications and copying over the relevant pk3 files into a new base folder in there.
-
okay, so now im pretty sure everything is in the right place. There was no ownership/sharing thing so i copied the base folder from the tremulous 20060704 folder and moved it into the already existing base folder in the user/library/application support/tremulous folder because i couldnt have more than one folder called 'base' in the same spot, but yeah, the tremded.ub in with the base folder in (user/library/application-support/tremulous/base/base) and I made sure it contained the data-1.1.0.pk3 and the vms-1.1.0.pk3 as well as maprotation.cfg, server.cfg, and tremserver.bat (Note: i didnt put tremded IN the folder containing the previous files but NEXT to them. if that sounds right then the next step is starting it up =/

Can someone link me to Foobar's tutorial on this?
I've tried searching it up, but my search results are taking me in circles.

Foobar's Tutorial (http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=3586.0) is for Windows users. It took me 2 seconds to find.
-
Just go to Servers and look at the stickies.
