Title: Old contact info
Post by: Paradox on May 10, 2008, 10:33:37 pm
Ok, I have frankly gotten sick of all the countless topics of "OMG! I WAZ BANNED ON...". So, i have made a thread with information about bans.

First off, if you have been banned from a server, dont open a thread here. All ban threads opened here usually are locked. Open a thread at that server's forums. If the server doesn't have a forums, then you shouldn't be playing there. Another way to appeal a ban is to contact an admin directly.

A good number of admins hang out in freenode > #tremulous, so that should be the first place you check.

Tremulous Server Contact Info page (http://wiki.paradoxdgn.com/wiki/Tremulous_Server_Contact_info)

Update!:
Well, you may have noticed that the large list of entries has been replaced by a link. This has been done because I got tired of having to edit the post and input the data by hand, and because i wanted to make the information easier to use. It has since been moved to my wiki. There, it presents several new features, such as table sorting (want to do it in reverse alphabetical? Go ahead), IRC links that link to IRC, and an easier view of the data (tables>lists in this case).

As part of the wiki, anyone can edit it. I will be monitoring these edits very heavily, and any attempts at vandalism will result in edit IP blocks. Vandalism for this page specifically includes:

There is a guide on the page on adding servers, you can view it here (http://wiki.paradoxdgn.com/wiki/Tremulous_Server_Contact_info#Rules_for_this_page)

Thank you

Ok guys, feel free to bitch about my changes. I expect the following, and have prepared a list of answers:

Wtf! Why the move to YOUR wiki
Because i know my wiki, know what it has, and have set it up for ease of use. Also, because i was originally the only one to edit this post, and now, anyone can edit it, but i host it.

I don't like the new way of adding servers
Then post here, ill add them. That was covered in The info at the bottom of the page (http://wiki.paradoxdgn.com/wiki/Tremulous_Server_Contact_info#Rules_for_this_page)

What are some advantages to this move?
The wiki provides a much easier interface to managing and updating server info. Instead of the one way method here, where people post info and i edit it in when i see that this topic has been changed, anyone can edit it. It also provides sorting features, so you can see which servers Don't have IRC, or see them in reverse alphabetical order. Finally, it links to IRC pages, and gives irc links a cool picture.

What about vandalism/abuse
I added this page to my watch list, with digest mails. I will patrol all changes, and anything unsatisfactory will be reverted. Attempts at vandalization will result in IP blocks.

Feel free to post any complaints i havn't covered.

Also feel free to post compliments, well-dones, and other such things. But i don't expect it.

Wow. No public outcry? No tarring and feathering? This community doesn't hate me, or at least not too much.
:)

On a side note. Would more people use the wiki if i implemented OpenID?

Great idea on the wiki.  I've just edited Tsunami's web address, it is now .net now.
