I downloaded version 1.1.0 from tremulous.net today and installed it on my brand new install of Ubuntu Hardy Heron. I have an nVidia 8800GT 512MB video card and I have enabled the proprietary nVidia driver in Ubuntu. When I first started playing it it played fine for a while, but then all of a sudden it jumped out to the terminal (it had been started by the installer) and all I could see was a window on the game about 1/4 size of the screen and another quarter of the screen was the terminal showing what the game was doing in the background. I had to ctrl-alt-backspace. Then I tried to play it by using the new GUI link in the Applications>Games menu and it loaded and it started switching between full screen and a windowed screen. By windowed screen I mean that that screen was full screen but the border of normal windows was there. In this state I could not alt+tab and switch to a different application (well I could, but the mouse wasn't working) and I could not play the game. I have since reinstalled the video driver and am about to reinstall the program.

You can use Alt-Enter to switch between Full Screen and Windowed mode, it sounds like its running at the same resolution as your desktop so the window is full screen sized.
You can also open the console (` or ~, the key to the left of 1) to release the mouse when windowed.

compositing window managers tend to cause problems with 3d games, turn it off while running tremulous.

Thanks I will keep the window manager switched off when playing games.
