Already on the to-do list:

new maps
fix spawn invulnerability time
add sound effects
add killing spree/kill combo/etc messages
teams

Looks intersting, but the quality is so low in that video, it is impossible to see any gibs. Looks just like g_knockback set to 9999

Actually there's existing code for that. Look in the MGDev SVN at an old revision. That was tried and disliked for 1.2., but could be what you need here.

i think the 'trick' to have videos show up in good quality is to convert your vides to flv at the right resolution yourself
i haven't tried myself, but that's my best guess

I just played this (in my own map, no less) and I found this to be rediculously fun and addictive. Inaki/Arch has been kind enough to run my experimental Instagib map (ig_chaos_b1) on his server, and everyone seems to like it. This is one mod that I can actually *play* on dialup, even if my aim does suck.

Admittedly I thought it sounded like an awful idea at first, but after playing some games, I must say that Instagib is really quite a lot of fun. I think supertanker's map is great for it, too. I can't wait to get the chance to play the mod with that map and a good number of players.

It's really great how there's suddenly a rash of gametypes for Trem. Risujin gave us Dom and Relics back in the day, but now suddenly we're seeing working mods for Deathmatch and Instagib, while there're others working to bring us Tower Defense, and people have been trying to do Assault-type maps for a long time. Really it's all gotten me quite excited too and I got unlazy enough to code my own new gametype mod, premiering very soon (Look forward to it: no details until then :)).

Hats-off to everyone who's bringing us new and fun ways to enjoy Tremulous. New gametype mods are infinitely more interesting than admin-abuse and messed-up-balance "mods." Let us hope to see this great surge of creativity continue and enjoy its fruits.

It's in alpha with a working mod, just that nero needs some time before he will even start coding on anything.

Yea, "Balance" mod didn't quite live up to its namesake, but it sure tried.
High-quality objective maps seem to be missing. (I'm talking brushes and such, not game-play) Well, we can still continue to wait around for the long-coveted Siege.
Objective-based maps also have tended to be either puzzle or trickjump-based. No objectives that actually make much sense. If you want an idea of objectives that make sense, play *gasp* W:ET.

Great work to Arch for the mod, and Super for the map.

Looks like a very well done mod, congrats. :)

The only problem is that this mod, along with a lot of the new mod ideas, isn't Tremulous anymore. Why would we play this mod instead of Warsow instagib or Nexuiz instagib? A Tremulous mod needs to use Tremulous gameplay elements.

I won't claim my mods succeeded in this regard either. Despite being open source and so easily accessible, Tremulous really is an atrocious game for modding.  :-\

The mass driver is the instakill hitscan weapon. I don't know about the blaster.

The blaster was just a test to see if it'd work properly, and I don't like it. It's not in the latest version of the qvm (not up yet.)

You can test it by using /callvote instagib. A random map will be chosen and in next match instagib will be on.

Yeah, if original Instagib is similar to TremSpain's one, it must be awesome. I recorded demo from TremSpain server at map 1984b4 (you can download it here (http://obliter8.com/files/o8/downloads/tremulous/maps/map-1984b4.pk3)). This map is really good one for playing instagib.

ESD is extreme sudden death. Basically a hypercrapped version of sudden death.

I must say I prefer ACKMAN's version. It's fun as hell, and the instagib map is just AWESOME.

PS: You forgot to say the !CP we get when we do a frag ;) Helps a lot if someone around dies and it hasn't been you, so you know you're in danger.

Yeah, in regular games ESD sucks so much i agree, but in TS' instagib it's awesome (check out my demo).

I see no point in camping for ammo, it wont give you frags or fun, better idea is to kill other players. Gaining free ammo is helpful when you have 1 -2 "bullets" left. I personally haven't seen anyone "camping for ammo" yet.. In those few games.

Bubbles -->> i mean... player doesn't see it. Other players do( can't explain why )
God Mode -->> defends players from spawn camping; usually, if a player spawns an there is a hummie in his back... he dies. With this i think you can kill your attacker
Ammo Regeneration -->> if no ammo player dies... so... this will help players to stay alive

I forgot: When you kill someone you get msg 'You fragged X'

Spawnprotection, should be like 5 seconds.

"The respawn gods protected X to get killed by Z"

2 secs are good, we tested it and works. In 5 sec you can shot 5 times --->>> 5 kills

explosion is fine, i've had ~15 players in a very heated battle with no lag whatsoever, and i have a terrible system.

Maybe if you go to TremSpain they still have the mod, but I haven't worked on it or hosted a server for it in many months (re: this topic hasn't been posted in since last year)

Yes, in TremSpain you can play it by calling a vote. /callvote instagib - random map will be chosen.

BTW Archangel, you should try it out. I did a lot of changes and it works fine. It has a little bug in the last days but I'm fixing it.

I'm thinking about make a "promo" video too xD

IIIII clan also did a version of this mod. I don't really like their but... well it's because i have my own version.



EDIT: Oh ftw players explode when no ammo :O if you run out of ammo just try to touch someone and explode :D

Yeah, I had that in my initial version, they would suicide with nade explosions. Maybe if you could supply me with a patch?
