I was playing tremulous, and I was changing the resolution options. I put the resolution too high, and it messed up the game. It said that the game could not run at the current resolution. The problem is, I don't know how to change the resolution back to default. I tried reinstalling it, but it still didn't work. Now, when I open the game, all it does is send me an error message, so I can't even change the resolution back. How do I change the resolution so I can play the game again?

Start it from the command like with +set r_mode 4

Start it from the command like with +set r_mode 4
It says "Windows cannot find +set....". Is there a way to change the game to default settings without opening it?
-
In your "base" folder you will find a file called "autogen.cfg". Delete or rename it. On the next start tremulous will generate a new one with the default settings.

Where does the game store the tremulous folder? I can't find it.

Linux: ~/.tremulous/base/
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Tremulous/base/
Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Tremulous\base\

tremulous.exe +set r_mode 4
You tried to start a programm called "set" which of course does not exist.

Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Tremulous\base\
Without tjw's backport, its C:\Program Files\Tremulous\base on windows

i made the same mistake but after countless reinstalls i takeing every little thing out that had to do with tremulous
but it still did not work so now im stuck and hungry for tremulous HELP!

qryan11: run tremulous from within a console and post the output here. Some additional info about your Operating System, graphic card etc would help too.
-
system:Vista
processer:intel celeron 1.60GHz
Ram:1014
System type:32bit operating system
-
im not exactly sure how to open it from a console
-
From a DOS prompt in windows.
-
1. Click Start
2. Type 'cmd' and press enter. A small window pops up: the MS-DOS shell aka DOS prompt
3. Type 'tremulous" into that MS-DOS shell and press enter
4. After the game crashes or shuts down, copy the complete content of the MS-DOS shell and post it here. This could be a pretty long list.
Hope i gave a proper description. I'm not a windows user :P
5. And what kind of graphic card are you using?

-
Install the drivers for your graphics card.
-
how would one do that :advmarauder:
-
how would one do that :advmarauder:
One would go to the website of the manufacturer and select the appropriate driver package.
f.e.
http://www.amd.com
http://www.nvidia.com
http://intel.com
etc...
-
still does not work ;( im stuck
-
...WARNING: missing Glide installation, assuming no 3Dfx available
Dunno what Glide is, but it looks you have to install it.
To set the resolution:
<PATH_TO_TREMULOUS.EXE> +set r_mode 4
If it fails again, try setting r_mode lower.
-
Glide isn't needed, its some legacy crap from q3.
qryan11: What graphics card do you have?
-
actully this all happend when i changed the resilution
and i cant find what type of graphics card i have i already looked
-
IVE solved the problem
it turned ot that there were some hidden autogen files that i needed to delete
so now i can play again thanks all!
