Title: Six Axis (split from Name The Game)
Post by: Lava Croft on July 09, 2008, 08:03:55 am
Six axis movement means you can move in all directions. Tremulous has 4 axis movement, Descent has 6 axis movement.

Tremulous too has 6 axis movement... when you activate your jetpack.
if you activate your jetpack, it's still 4 axis movement...

x, y, z, yaw, pitch, roll (for example, there are many ways to define an angle)

@bissig:well does it have to do with zombies?

Hmm. I think you got me there... I haven't played it in a long time, so I am not quite sure if it really is 6 axis or just 4.

In this case I was wrong about Tremulous too. It only has 4 axis. Sorry ;-)

NO ZOMBIES URARRRRGGGGHHHHHH ... .. . .. .

Stand straight, and face one direction.  X would be the axis if you sidestepped left or right (horizontal), Y would be if you jumped up and down (vertical), Z would be if you walked forward or backward.  Pitch is if you lean forward or backward, Roll is if you lean to the left or the right, and Yaw is if you physically turned left or right.

I think I got them right, anyway.  Bonus points to the person who mathematically plots a reverse Immelmann (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immelmann_turn)
