Title: question about binds
Post by: samh785 on August 06, 2008, 01:49:20 am
I would like to know how to make a bind to join the human team at the start of a match. Any help is much appreciated.

Learn to play both sides.

Also, learn to time that click just right, and you can join the Human team.

@samh785: You could try binding it to a key, like so: "/bind F3 team humans".

Learn to play both sides.
My 2ยข: If you don't, you're only experiencing half the game.

I'm sorry I wasn't clearer in my post, I meant to ask how to bind it to a key. thank you bomb! This is just what I needed!

also, I definitely play both sides, I just want a way to bind the selection to a key so I can get on the team I want.   ;D

Don't be a pussy. Autojoin.

Don't be a pussy. Autojoin.
Autojoin does not care for any lack of balance. It's much better to wait until most people have joined, then look at the teams and join the team that is in need of help.

What I said carried a fairly valid argument in less words, and I was in a hurry for an optometrists appointment.
Lava is right, however. The only problem with that is you have to know the skills of the players to be any judge. But if you're a regular, go for it.

Calling people pussies for not using autojoin is even more stupid than using autojoin.

How is autojoin stupid? It's a perfectly viable means of entering the game if one team has more players than the other.

Like I already said, autojoin has no regard for the actual balancing of the teams, only for the balancing of the amount of players on a team.

Autojoin has its casual uses and users. If I don't really care to make sure that I join the team that "needs" me the most, and I come along in the middle of a game, I'll just join the team with the lesser amount of players. Sometimes it's very obvious who needs the help, and sometimes less so. Sometimes I'll join the team with the lesser amount of players, and they'll be like "dude, help them; we don't need it".

Autojoin is also useful at the beginning of a match, to just join a team without getting any error message. Sometimes I just want to play, whatever happens, no preconceived plan. It depends upon my mood, the server, if I know the people there, if they know me (if I'm aliaswhoring and which of many AKAs I'm using), how many players are on, and etc.

I'm sure most people have something keybound, and a plan in mind at the beginning of every match. I just hit autojoin, and follow along with what anyone who looks like they have a plan is doing (unless it's really stupid, although it's usually easier for them to find out by trying it, than by talking them out of it). Usually I find good killwhore, and try to stay just off their main route, and a little behind them, unless I'm helping the builder. Works for me, probably not what anyone else would do, but "meh", sez I.

In short, it's a button, some people push it. I'm glad you have strong feelings about it; the universe is as it should be. ;)

In that case, OP, go here (http://www.mercenariesguild.net/component/option,com_openwiki/Itemid,12/id,binds/lang,en/).

@David: Thank you.

Simple:

New players and aimbotters play humans. Advanced players play aliens more or equally to humans.

You rather have me just post 'Yes.', instead of link you to a thread full of binds used by different Tremulous players? Fine.

Yes, better binds exists. Happy?

Yes, i am very happy. I use wasd, which is 'move forward','move left','move back' and 'move right'.
Are the arrows better?

Do you feel better when using the arrows? If so, then the arrows are better. If not, then I guess they aren't.

Nothing is better than the keys you prefer, do not let anyone fool you into thinking anything else.

OK. People can dodge better with wasd, and can better chase somebody with the arrows.
I prefer wasd.
