I was wondering if some one could help me install tremulous, i keep running into a problem.
I am using yellow dog linux 6.0 (dont ask why) and was wondering if anyone else is/has used it and succesfully installed tremulous. i dont think it would work on here but wanted to try any ways
the problem i run into is when it is uncompressing the folder and this error occurs:
The setup program seems to have failed on ppc64/glibc-2.1
Fatal error, no tech support email configured in this setup
Press Return to close this window...
Any help would be great or if someone knows that yellow dog cant run tremulous then that would be fine

Install the glibc (http://www.gnu.org/software/libc/) package for your distribution?

the precompiled version of trem won't run with an ancient version of libc, you'll need to either update your system or take your chances compiling it from the source (which rarely compiles without changes on old systems)

Ok Thanks for the help.
Do you know if it would work on openSuse 11.0?

actually... ignore my previous answer (i wasn't awake yet >.>)
tremulous 1.1.0 is only precompiled for i386 processors, you'll need to either install your distribution's package if they have one, or download the .zip for the data and compile the client yourself.
edit: and before you go through the effort to install tremulous make sure you have working hardware 3d.

unzip the tremulous .zip, unzip the source .zip inside, run make*, copy executable to folder that you unzipped the tremulous .zip to
*you'll need gnu make, gcc, sdl, sdl's headers, opengl, opengl's headers, openal, openal's headers and maybe some other stuff i'm forgetting installed first

curl(libcurl-devel) maybe?
Btw.:
Is the OP trying to run Trem on a Playstation3? (Hints: Yellow Dog and PPC64)

;D yea i was just trying it out because it would be awesome to do, do you have any info on how to do it? I cant really figure out how to use gnu make
But i think i have decided to try and just put ubuntu on there instead because yellow dog aint that great :-\

linux on ps3 doesn't have access to the gpu, so it's unlikely trem will run on it.

Yellow Dog is a PPC distro anyway, but PS3 + trem = lolz
