I use Windows XP (on my laptop) and Ubuntu (on my desktop). I'm really wanting this map maker/editor for my XP.
1) What do I need to download to start making my own maps?
2) Can I use other peoples maps and textures to make my own maps?/Do I need there permission?
3) Can you give me a direct link to the maping download please?

Look at the sticky names in this subforum:

In there:

Can it be any easier to find?

Ok I know there are a lot of people asking this question, but the thing is is that there are tuns of map editors. I just want to ask the pros what the best one is ^^

hmm personally I use GTKradiant, but some friends I know use GTKradiant, and a lot of pros use one called GTKradiant, and I've even heard that GTKradiant is pretty good.

Moose, have you considered trying GtkRadiant? I've heard that it wins 5 internets.

The next best thing after GtkRadiant is a text editor.

I actually had a script lying around, which generates random maze from standard brushes and writes it into *.map file. Adding lights and spawns where needed. (on topic about text editors used for mapping).

Heh, well I often use a text editor for bulk retexturing.
