Okay so I was playing and I believe the problem was the resolution I changed it to. But I can't find the file to edit and change to be able to run tremulous once more.

Tried using the Search (http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?action=search) function yet?
Yes but im using my friends vista 32bit and I can't find the autogen.cfg file or any file related where I need to change r_mode 4
Open the Windows Explorer and enter %appdata% in the adress field. I think it takes you to a place somewhere near X:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\.
Theres nothing there to help but I just can't find the command prompt on this vista but I can on my XP and I keep reading you can fix it with command prompt.
There is nothing there because you probably cannot see hidden folders. Enable the showing of hidden folders somewhere in Explorer's options.
No it opens the folder but I see nothing to do from there.
Are you using a 'new' Tremulous.exe, or the Tremulous.exe as provided by the 1.1.0 installer?
In case of the first, your autogen.cfg should be somewhere around AppData, in a folder called Tremulous\
In case of the latter, your autogen.cfg will be in a folder next to your Tremulous.exe, called base\
But, since I don't use Vista, it's rather hard to troubleshoot this. I'll change your topic title to reflect this.
It's th regular 1.1.0 and when I go to map folder all I find are maps and vms-1.1.0 and data-1.1.0 and I can't find it in app data
I keep searching all folders for autogen.cfg and it cannot find the file at all
You can also use the Search tool provided with Vista to search your entire computer for the file autogen.cfg
[PS] You can edit your own posts, so you do not have to doublepost :)
Ya I kind forgot lol but where would I find the search tool because im using toolbar in folder that says search?I know the problem is I set the resolution to 1600 x 1200 but I can't get into tremulous to change it back
I am not using Vista, but I have read that the Vista search tool only searches files that have registered extensions. So unless you have a program that registered *.cfg you won't find it.
You could open a cmd window and type the command
WHERE /R C:\ autogen.cfg
(assuming you have Tremulous installed on drive C:)
Thank you so much it that was a very big help ;D I finally found it and deleted it
Yea, vista can be a bitch if you don't execute everything with administrator. Be sure to do that.
