Wouldn't it be nice if you could log in to the tremulous website and view your player stats like kills, awards, ranks, levels played, last game played and other stuff like that.
I think it would add that extra level of competitiveness that we need in Tremulous to make it that much better.
What do you think? ??? :human:
-
you can with tremstats but its single server only. all it creates is more of a reason for humans to camp so they don't die..... and lose because of the camp
-
If you look around, even very recently there was some discussion as to why "awards" and "achievements", especially those which span multiple servers let alone multiple matches, are a horrible idea. Many games end up with servers whose sole purpose is to increase someone's stats instead of actually playing the game.
Tremstats *can* have a similar effect, but since it's only for a particular server it's not quite as horrible. But SlackerLinux has it dead on, for many it's just a reason to camp or otherwise play a certain way, so as not to ruin one's stats.

It's not that Achievements/Awards are bad, it's the implementation.
-
For this to correctly work, there would have to be all servers done by the devs, restrict any creation of servers to the public, and have tight administering to prevent skill-boosting. So another wards, a closed source game, that cost's money, and that would kill half the community.

TF2 etc has awards with community run servers, although the servers run with just as much DRM as the clients do, to ensure no cheating. (I assume mods aren't counted).
Whatever tremulous does, I'll be able to get all the awards in two minutes.

People very easily hack the achievements in TF2 very quickly as well.
-
It would be cool. But It is not easy(if you want it to be good)

LOL ARE YOU GUYS SERIOUS? XD THERE ALREADY IS ONE =D
its right HERE (http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/76.79.196.222:30725)
Just go back, go to search, and type Quake 3, then find the server.

Posting like that is going to get you no friends very quickly.

I'm guessing ten, eleven.

Of course everyone knows about Gametracker. This topic's talking about an altogether more sophisticated program.
