Hi out there, I think I have been googeling for a bind for the "target chat" command for an hour or so and still cannot find it.
I need a command to say to somebody in my way "Go away! I want to build here!" or something, but I cannot find that command. For usual communication it is /say, for teamchat it is /say_team, but what is it for target chat?
Does anyone know it?

You can't. There is messagemode3 (or 4, can't remember) which will bring up a chat box, but none for the target.
-
You could use "say_area" as some kind of fix. It won't work in all qvms I guess.
-
"Use the source, Luke, use the source!"
I simply looked up all the commands available in the source. That command is called
/tell
and does the trick.

Who needs Google (http://q3console.planetquake.gamespy.com/commands.htm), when you can bother this forum?

You realize I already did that, ("I think I have been googeling for a bind for the "target chat" command for an hour or so") but without success, I would never have found this page googeling for "tremulous target chat bind".
But succesfully, I created a thread where this "tremulous target chat bind" occurs, so by adding this to the pool, I ensured that people looking for it in the future will find it, as everybody with some last remaining brain cells will figure out by means of thinking or simply reading my initial post.
Did I make myself clear?

Of course the linked page also says "does not work" next to MessageMode4.
*Most* servers will have say_area. Assuming your target is one of your nearby teammates, that'd probably do. MM4, however, is pretty much depretiated because it was so difficult to keep someone in your crosshairs long enough to use it, so nobody did.
-
mm4 will determine the client you are aiming at when you bring up the prompt, not when you send the message.
-
Sure, but even then that doesn't stop someone else from running in front of you while you're pushing the button to bring up the prompt. Overall there's not much point that /m or /say_area wouldn't cover, imo.
