Title: Help with Trem versions
Post by: Dark-Shadow on October 11, 2008, 12:31:59 pm
Hello.

Lately I've had problems with Tremulous. These are:

1. The config seems to have the wrong keyboard layout. For my binds I need to type z for y binds and the other way around. Also most symbols don't work, like "<", "-".
2. After a while of playing Trem, all my symbols get fucked up. When I type "^^" it says ".." and when I type "/" it says "&". I always need to restart Trem to fix this.
3. My mouse can't be bound anymore. mouse4/5 doesn't work and AUX1-9 doesn't work either.

--> I think I have these problems because I have the wrong Trem client/version. Now how do I get the newest version? And how do I prevent Trem from downloading an older/worse one? Because I used to have good versions where either AUX or mouse4/5 worked. And "< and -" used to work too. Please help  ???

1 and 2: that is a layout change, I think german layout has z and y switched, many have & and / on diff keys. I think alt+shift changes layout by default on Win XP, but seems your layout is program specific if restarting trem fixes it... Trem doesn't automatically dl other versions of the client.

OK Thanks for the info but the & and / thing was just an example. If this "bug" occurs, ALL symbols are screwed up, not just these two.

yes, that is a problem with your keyboard and Tremulous using American/British style keyboard as default.

You probably trod on the autoswitch keyboard layout thingie or the "handicapped" thingie in Windows. It's usually activated by double-clicking the shift key or some like that..

Ok I found out that pressing Alt + shift fixes it. Now too bad that some binds like the ones on my mouse don't work :[
I guess I'll have to live with it.
