Hi! It's me, toto!
Psaws are my favorite.
They are great for everything:
1. Great for narrow halls - it is surprising how much goons and tyrants miss (especially in halls like rotcannon).
2. Great for vents - it is also surprising how suicidal dretches are. Especially in the cramped spaces in the cargo boxes in Tremor, or the vents of Karith.
3. Great for alien buildings - everything except the ones on the ceiling (unless you have a jet). OM in ATCS - way too vulnerable.
4. Great for small aliens - fun to run away, and then suddenly turn around, and slice and dice.
5. Great for big alien hordes - you'll deal a load of damage, in addition to alien tks.
6. Great for moving human bases - in like ten seconds.
7. Great for defending human bases - when you're on a turret, the big aliens can't get you are like freebies, while small aliens (like dretches) cannot get to you. Also, when a new building is going up, you can psaw whoever tries to eat it. You can also block tyrants from escape.
8. Great for surprises - around-the-hall ambushes and pretend-ckits!
9. Great for teamwork - large squads of psaws are no match for tyrants and goons (with tk turned off though...).
10. Great for totem poles - crouch with a psaw on a crouching human with a shotgun in a cramped area, and it will be hard for aliens to get to you. Dretches that try to headbite the shotgunner will meet the psaw, and the psaw man is to high to get a headbite. With a shotgun and a psaw, aliens cannot rush them nor inch towards them - rushers will be psawed, and dretches and basis that try to beat the psaw range will be gunned down.
11. Great for players that don't have money - only 100 creds.
Thus, the psaw is one of the most potential weapons ever.
-
Painsaw is very useful. But I think you could say the same of most weapons and aliens.
-
lol. i found reading this rather humorous moving bases :) well i play on X alot and psaws are 1500 i suck at using them but that totem pole is an excellent idea. i dont understand the :turret: one? the tyrant can reach you fine o.0.
well that was a great guide.
-
How are you going to move a base with a psaw???
I think the only thing i agree with here is the blocking idea used it alot
but the others ??????????????? ??? ??? ??? ???

Hi! It's me, Hendrich!
Psaws are my worst weapon!
They're great for everything:
1. Great for narrow halls? In hell, its not like the alien players are friggin' blind, they'll even hear the sound before you come after them if you wield it before fighting. Besides, against tougher classes, without teammates or much experience, you'll fail.
2. Great for vents? Correct, especially if you decide to camp in the vent alot/the whole time. Besides, a Adv. Marauder can fish you out after awhile.
3. Great for alien buildings? If the aliens are dumb enough to have them on the ground after S1/S2. But, you can have players whine at your l33t p-saw skill after you sawed their OM at the beginning of the game in maps like ATCS.
4. Great for small aliens? If the small aliens are dumb enough not to know the basics of evading, or how to friggin' wall climb.
5. Great for big alien hordes? Lets see you kill a tyrant while the 3 other aliens swipe your ass.
6. Great for moving human bases - in like ten seconds? Yep, its true, you can move bases with a p-saw, just saw your whole base like the dumb-ass deconner you are and wait for your builder to move to the new base while the aliens comes for you.
7. Great for defending human bases? Goodluck.
8. Great for surprises? Hell yes, while the aliens can hear your p-saw and see the distinct blue light coming, you can act as if the P-saw was a ckit! They'll never know the difference!
9. Great for teamwork? Hell yea, if you can dance like Micheal Jackson, you can easily steal all your teammate's kills as they attack the aliens from afar.
10. Great for totem poles? Yes, yes, and yes! That is, if the aliens doesn't push you off, or attack from behind you, or snipes/blobs/zaps you, etc.
11. Great for players that don't have money - only 100 cred! Thats right, even though you might have 0000 credits, you can still get the Psaw- FOR ONLY 100 CREDITS! This logic makes so much sense!
Thus, the psaw is one of the most potential weapon ever! lolol11111lolol, did you know that? ::)
/Being a lame jerk to poor Toto

Fixed your last sentance for you.
@Hendrich: You're an asshole, and that was the most pathetic fail-troll I've seen in a long while.

I thought he made some good points, as has toto. There's give and take with the psaw, just like any weapon. I think it's one of the "acquired taste" weapons, and I'm sure that skilled users can pull off most of the tricks described by toto. At least some of the time. Just take it with a grain of salt.

It seems Urc managed to see through the giant blob I stuck down above and see the point of that post (Which, after reading myself, wasn't clear at all). Learning how to do a skill, is like learning to roll a snowball with your hands and keep rolling it till it gets bigger. With the P-saw, its like rolling the snowball with a twig, its tricky, you might not hit the ball all of the time, it'll take forever, and you might break the ball. But the trick is is that the P-saw should be handled with care, just like how its best to carefully roll the snowball with the twig, one roll at a time patiently.
Most of the strategies listed by Toto are useful in-game, so Toto has a strong point of what hes saying. Thing is, its safe to say 60% of the time those plans don't work, even with a skilled P-sawer, because theres more ways to break that strategy then to hold it. The key is to keep trying to learn the P-saw, even if you suck at most of the strategies. The hardest part of P-saw strategies is where to start, and how you can keep doing them without failing.
@ Kaine: ;)
@ Toto: No hard feelings, I didn't want to make fun of you, I just wanted to have a little fun. :P

Okay the psaw is good for some of those suggestions. but i dont think that an alien is gonna mistake a psaw for a ckit. Even if theyve only played once or twice. if u see the diff. between the two u wont mistake them. I dont think i've ever mistaked it for a ckit. But yea the psaw is cheap. but i dont think its gonna be used in a MUST win situation :) but overall good post here :police:

I tried the psaw on the OM on ATCS last night and yeah, it made a difference. Granted, it was a match on the newbie server so they've left their base almost at default. Once we took down a couple acid tubes by the entrance and I could get to the OM ledge with the psaw it was all over in seconds.
A personal pet peeve of mine is people who go around with the psaw activated all the time. Not only are they letting aliens know we're coming and we have a psaw a mile away, it's also very much fun when they brush against their team-mates and swipe away 40 HP in a heartbeat.
-
lol yep i love it when u see a psaw crouching n then a rant (for example) is standing a few yards away cornering him :) but yea i hate anyone who runs around with a running psaw... usually they are a noob who thinks ff is off :P
-
I've used Painsaw once or twice, I thought it was pretty great for everything.

Great at annoying people who've had Misiek1113337[PL] building for their team.
-
The funniest thing about the psaw is that it sounds like a regular chainsaw. :) Even though it's supposed to be this plasma SciFi thingy.
-
psaw is just annoying if someone on your team uses it and complains about getting bled by someones gun. well think about it, your charging in an aliens face, if you dont want help then go die alone :D
it is nice to kill bases if you dont like the map, say atcs. its not a very strategic weapon if you can afford something like an md or at least the favorited shotty
-
Psaw is definitely my favorite weapon and use it at every opportunity I have.
-
@Ryan: yea i remember you liek teh psaw rush whenever possible :) (say Mry Xmas 2 Anthony 4 me)
@Kaine: tuff luv, gud 2 c
@Hendrich: i laffed
@OP: imma glad u liek teh psaw (try a nade 4 real funz)
in honor of np i say: this thread is full of infatuation
lol'd @ tote 'em polez

Um, I think toto is refering to switching to blaster like a ckit would and running around, the pawing them as soon as they get close enough

That trick is good for any weapon.
-
Particularly rapid fire ones.

ah or acting like ur out of ammo :)
