Please don't decorate ceilings with ridges and crap unless it is deliberately intended for strategic purposes.
For example, certain parts of Nexus6 with ridges on the ceiling are very very difficult to traverse quickly as a Marauder or Dragoon, and are simply vomit inducing as a dretch.
If it is intended to retard alien movement for some sort of ultimate balance, fine. If it just happens to look pretty, please just don't, or at least leave a clear path through them.
Thank you.

OR, made them a bit higher :)

lol, its not that bad, you should see derelict :D
the ceiling is like dretch speedbumps.

Hey I love Decorated Ceilings as a Dretcher
As a human what would u find harder to shoot?
An aliens on ceiling going in a strait line or an alien moving around like its practising its dance routines.as a heavy mass driver this dont really bother me,Well of course it does if i miss lol

And don't decorate floors and walls either... :P
Seriously though , it is good to place decorations behind grate pannels , and keep the eye candy without driving dretches nuts.
-
Don't forget not to texture anything and compile without lighting (fullbright) as enemies are too hard to see... :P
Seriously... not decorating walls and ceilings would make the maps boring, even as a dretch. I try to keep spaces for wallwalkers while other areas are intentionally hard to navigate. As anything else, it is just a matter of balance... ;)

I'm generally not bothered as long as they don't occur every half step I take. >128 units I can deal with but less becomes increasingly irritating since you spend more time trying to dodge then attack.
-
Maruders should have jump adjusted somewhat like dragoons. Just jump where you are looking...
Dretches... :( I like them... but engine could be made that instead __||||__ it would be _/||||\_ for dretch (you know.. forward legs on celling - bacward on wall or sth)
Yet, this is non trivial matter ...
BUT... eq something non-visible but walkable for wall-aliens, hard to place it manually but plugin for GTKradiant (since it is open Yay!) shouldn't be THAT hard (or just a tool.. map2dretchmap :))
-
You just place playerclip brushes in front of decoration... It is done in the main corridors of Derelict for example... ;)
It not only makes wallwalking easier but prevents anyone from being stuck at decorative edges.

If it looks pretty, just make them decorative, not actuall structures.

Bump, Listen to Megabite mappers, smooth out those surfaces for use wall climbers.
Bumpy impossible to run up walls, cealings and random pipes/strutctures will make people really hate your map unless the rest of it is really, really good.

celing too high make low fps. Therefore i hate the uncreation map.

This is because the Quake3 occulsion is 2D. But maybe with simple poligons you can still have very 3d maps. I really love holes as alien :D

Or dont make them at all :P

I disagree. Decorate your ceilings with an elaborated raised vertex mapping of the Sistine Chapel to your hearts delight. Cut massive beams with off cut ridges. Do whatever you want then apply a clip brush over it all and no one will care apart from to look at the pretty.
