I know this sounds ridiculous, but I don't know, how to use the jetpack :(... nowhere in the options keys how to get the jetpack going and how to fly are showed... can you please help me?
What about the weapons? Shouldn't I be able to buy better weapons, if enough aliens are killed? All I got as I tried the game out was the technical equipment, various types of armour and the grenade... Or am I supposed to build a special structure apart from the armour store? ???

if you press q while standing in front of the armory, you enter a weapon buying menu. that's how you buy a jetpack also.
you might forgot to sell your rifle first before trying to buy an other weapon.
to use jetpack, scroll over its icon with the mouse wheel and press 3rd mouse button.
in global, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR SCREEN!

Ah okay... thank you very much... :) I really forgot to sell my rifle (to be honest, I didn't know that this has to be done before buying a new weapon...)

You could read the manual:
http://tremulous.net/manual/
or ask people ingame.

Hehe when I was new to the game I didn't know you had to sell the rifle either. Thus I spent ages in front of the armoury fruitlessly trying to click on 'Buy' and having a message coming up saying that holding more than one new weapon was not possible :-[.

@Gil Galad: If you do not start posting in the correct section, after reading the manual and the FAQ, I will make you a restricted user, which means you will not be able to create any new threads.

fix this selling stuff at 1.2
every second newbie doesn't find out how to buy new weapons. in common.

Agreed - it only makes sense that the new menu options offer all of the weapons you can buy with your current credits, and auto-sell your old one should you choose a new one. The same should probably be applied to armor, so you can buy a battlesuit or whatever and simply replace your helm/larmour/jetpack/battpack/etc.

The problem with autosell is that it messes up the binds. Many people have e.g. buy lasgun;buy rifle bound to a key to get a lasgun if possible or else get a rifle. With the autosell logic they'll always get a rifle. That can be easily fixed, just bind buy lasgun only, because autosell should not sell your rifle if you have not enough credits for the lasgun, but you'll need two sets of binds for autosell/no autosell.

it took me awhile too, atleast to learn how to go down on a jet pack with out turning it off

RTFM

You and I both know that the official Tremulous manual is far from complete, and it mostly contains stuff that you can figure out from a little bit of experimentation... it needs comprehensive lists of the 1.1.0 cvars, commands, and bind keys, as well as more detailed/in-depth instructions on how to do common tasks. "RTFM" will only suffice here for very few issues....

Good point, although I personally have my number keys bound to weapons (when I'm a human fighter) and use these in combination with a couple of convenient armor toggle vstrs to get the desired setup for my human which does not assume such things.

I have implemented autosell in Tremfusion, but not in the same way you described. The armory menu is split into two parts: Weapon list and Upgrade list. You don't need to sell your current weapon to buy a new one, just double-click on the weapon you want, it will automatically sell the current one. ATM I don't have the split weapon/upgrade lists, but everything else is there.
/buy and /sell still work like before.

Easy solution: cg_autosell.
Have it enabled by default, we can disable it if our binds require it.

easier solution: have the armory menu produce the required "sell (weapons|upgrades)" command

Exactly what I did in Tremfusion.

Its only attack is to make forward contact with a human player or human defensive structure.
Bite:Touch a human
hmmm... ::)
