The only place I'm finding any reference to this is in the dedicated servers.
How do i load a map - ANY map - from console without using a dedicated server?
i always get various g_parsespawnvars errors regardless of the map.
(eg: acts works fine when i connect to a sever, but [ /map ] and [ /sv_pure 0 ; /devmap ]
still gets this error.)

Are you using a newer client? I had same problem with MG's client: download lakitu7 game.qvm and put it in base/vm/
-
You do start a local server first don't you?
-
/map should start the server.
Newer clients need a newer QVM, do as UsaKilleR said and get a newer one.
http://patches.mercenariesguild.net/index.php?getfile=816 in %appdata%/tremulous/base/vm/

I tried that one, no luck.
My tremulous has been updated twice and i no longer have the original.
i /version and i get this:
version: Tremulous 1.1.0 win_mingw-x86 Nov 5 2007 default: Tremulous 1.1.0 win_mingw-x86 Nov 5 2007
i have 2 tremulous.exe and they both say the same thing.
one is from the KOR website ( knightsofreason.org ) the other is i can't recall where it's from.
can you point me to the Tremulous.exe that matches the game.qvm you linked me to? maybe that can fix the prob. i'll simply save it as Tremulous.dev.exe
(btw, should i of mentioned i'm a windoze nub?)
oh - and i didn't even have a vm folder. had to make one. ( ?????? )
-
try /fs_homepath in console, then add /base/vm to the result and that's where game.qvm should go.

Thank you very much.
You guys have been extremely helpful and didn't even flame me once.
You've got a new mapmaker.
