hey my friend is hosting a server and it continues to go through lag spikes that affects everyone in the server.
i think the server is hosted on the west coast of America, but i am not sure. i think he set the minimum ping thing to 250 as the max.
can someone help?
-
torrents lag up your server and try restarting once in a wile
-
restarting fixes what?
-
Try buying a server closer to you and your players.

A dedicated server (as Paradox said) is a good idea, but in this case I think we should also mention, that hosting a Trem-Server on the same machine that is used for playing and only connected to the net via cable/dsl/dial-ip is generally considered a stupid idea.
-
i believe he plays on the same machine that hosts the server with.
that may be the problem, i will consult him about this.
thanks for all the help!

'100mb connection'
this answers your question, (please please know what you're talking about before you say something.)

What kind of connection would be considered a good idea?

A real connection, such as one you get in a datacenter or colo facility.
(10Mbps duplex, un-fiddled with)
