Title: GPL-Halp?
Post by: Drakotsu on December 07, 2008, 01:40:14 am
Hello.
I have a question about the QVM licence, (GPL).
If a server is using a qvm, does that mean the person who made the qvm must give the source code or a download to whoever requests it? Doesnt 'A release' of a qvm mean if a server is using it?

For example,
If the X server was using a qvm that someone made, and it wasnt for download and the source code wasnt for download, would they be violating thier licence?

Thanks for the help guys! Btw the X server was just an example :P

unless you actually distribute the game.qvm, you are under no obligation to distribute the source.

Ahh thanks very much!
However,
If you give the qvm to the server, that doesnt count as distributing it?

you're distributing it to that server, so you must provide the server with the source code as well.

Don't forget that you have to allow the server owner to distribute the qvm and source code to others, even if you wanted to distribute it only to him.
