Introducing the Ministry of Frag (http://ministryoffrag.org)
What is the Ministry of Frag? We're a fine example of that rare beast: a commercial enterprise based on the efforts of the Open Source movement. Free and open source software is one of the most incredible examples of how a spirit of community and cooperation can bring benefits for everyone involved, and we as many others have begun to feel that its rise is an inevitable demonstration of the best side of humanity and a real cause for hope in the future of information technology. But it's not without its drawbacks, and one of the most common issues that arise is the relative difficulty of raising money for resources, such as pizzas and coffee. In response to this problem, Ministry of Frag website was set up in December '08 by a few open-source game enthusiasts (that's us!) to bring a little tangible recognition to those guys who worked so hard to bring us the products we love for free.
That's great, but what does that mean?Glad you asked! Here at the Ministry of Frag, we believe that supporting the efforts of those in the Open Source movement is one of the most important things that people who enjoy OSS can do. However, we know as well as anyone that it can be hard to justify a straight-up donation to a project, and sometimes we just want something in return for handing out our cold, hard cash! Well, through buying Ministry of Frag products, you can help support the projects we partner with! 25% of sales go directly to the projects themselves, while the rest go towards producing more merchandise and supporting future Open Source projects – and, in return, you get some swanky, high-quality merchandise that advertises your favorite projects! Everyone wins!
So you're partnering with Tremulous?Well, we wouldn't be posting here if we weren't, now would we? But, in all seriousness, Tremulous is the first in what we hope to be a long series of open source projects that will be interested in partnering with the Ministry of Frag to help gain some more revenue. As such, the very first shirt being offered by the Ministry of Frag is a Tremulous branded shirt! We think this is not only a great step forward for the future of Tremulous development, but also a fantastic thing for the Tremulous community. Soon, you too can have your own official Tremulous merchandise.
A Tremulous t-shirt?That's right! Our first design is a really awesome design based on the Tremulous buildables.
(http://ministryoffrag.org/components/com_virtuemart/show_image_in_imgtag.php?filename=resized%2FTremulous_Builda_493b6bd2c070e_150x150.png) (http://ministryoffrag.org/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/Tremulous_Builda_493b6bd2d6e86.png)
But we don't plan on stopping there! Expect more Tremulous based t-shirt designs (and perhaps other Tremulous merchandise :granger:) in the future!
I want one! That's great, and we want you to have one! Be aware, though, that this first t-shirt run is
very limited. If you want to get your hands on one of the first run of official Tremulous t-shirts, you'll have to be quick! We expect this batch to very likely run out within the first week, so
get yours NOW! (http://mofrag.org/shop?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=23)
Where can I find out more about the Ministry of Frag?Well, you can head right on over to our shiny and well-organized website, www.ministryoffrag.org (http://www.ministryoffrag.org). There you'll not only find a variety of information about the Ministry of Frag and what we're up to, but also our forums – where you can talk about the Ministry of Frag, our products, and games that we partner with/games you think we SHOULD partner with. The Ministry of Frag isn't just an online shop, it's a community for likeminded people who are interested in supporting FOSS games through providing (and purchasing) great-looking merchandise.
As such, let us know what you think! You can contact us through our contact forms on our website, our forums, or even leaving a message in this thread. Let us know how you feel about our mission, our message, and our products. Become a part of the MoFrag community. Show your support for Tremulous by buying some of our products. Together we can lead the way to the future of OSS marketing!
Holy fuck. Totally ordering one.
edit: Your cart is broken. Shows my shirt in it, then when I hit checkout, I get

Edit 2: Yup. Got it ordered. Fuck yeah.
Salutations,
We are aware of the cart breaking sometimes and are looking into it asap. Thanks for your patronage!
Just FYI, Ministry Of Frag and the Director are both officially endorsed by the Tremulous Developers.
I've just ordered my XL shirt - so you lamers can't have one!

I say, jolly good show old chap!
I have just one suggestion:
SELL PLUSH GRANGARS!
As much as I'd like my very own PLUSH GRANGAR you'll want to wait till the shirt profits stack up.
Unless a vaguely granger-shaped, green sock will suit you.
Thanks MoF for supporting the developers after their years of hard, un-paid work as they now have a supporting sponsor to help them along the way. I want to thank you as a dedicated Tremulous member for giving me hope that Tremulous can be enjoyed for years to come as Tremulous is gaining the respect it well earned as an independent, open-source product.
YEEEEE-HAAWWW!!
Tremulous merchandise, here I come!
Very slick website, and finally... Tremulous merchandise!
This is how we keep Tremulous alive (http://"http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=9756.0"). Thank you, Ministry of Frag.
If you are able to sell on Amazon.com, then i would be able to purchase one.

Definitely a pretty cool shirt. If I wasn't terribly broke atm, I'd probably get one. Might hold out for something with a :granger: on it, tho.
I hope you don't run out of t-shirts by the time I get money... :o ;D (It's Christmas, buying presents for your loved ones, getting broke, etc... )
I'll wait until the granger plushies:p doubt shirts come in size I can wear;)

Damn. I need to either loose weight or steal Khalsa's.
All cart issues have now been resolved, sorry for the inconvinence. All orders from yesteday shipped today!
I can neither confrim nor deny any plans for plushie grangers, however I can say that monies used from sales of Tremulous t-shirts will be used for other Tremulous merchandise. So other than posting your request on our forums, buying the other Tremulous T-shirts is the best way to make it happen.

I demand a battlesuit!
... and stop calling me "plushie".
But seriously, sounds like a cool idea, great design, I just might get motivated to do this! Definitely maybe. Best-looking Trem shirt I've seen so far.
Good luck.

It's a nice attempt, but I wouldn't buy it. It's legs are a bit to thin for a start. If anything, the legs should be even wider than the original (for extra cuteness!!).

Yes! Several orders have already been shipped to Europe. We ship to anyplace USPS does (http://pe.usps.com/text/imm/immctry.htm) and if your country is not on that list, but UPS/DHL/Fedex/etc. ship there - just contact us directly for a custom quote.
It's great seeing pictures of people wearing the shirt, can't wait to see more!
Nice mo.
Very impressive.
:granger: :granger: :granger: +1 PLUSH GRANGER !!! :granger: :granger: :granger:

[ 1 idea as a t-shirt]
:granger: eating :human: head
:)
Cool.
you need to make one with a goon or the whole variety of aliens lurking around a corner with a human by himself
Is MoF still alive?
Yes.
AFAIK they are still selling shirts, but have had a lot less interest than hoped for. EG everyone says they will buy a shirt, and doesn't.
And quite a few people said they'll hold out for plush grangers, although they need to sell shirts to get the money for anything plush.
I'll buy a shirt next friday if I can.
The Ministry is still very much alive, however personally I've become a little busy so I've not been able to spend as much time on it as I would like, as well as the initial sales estimates we had were apparently way off.
We should be introducing some new programs and maybe some new merchandise in the near future!
The Director
Edit: I'm still surprised not one of you nerdy gamer types have discovered the discount codes hidden around the webite yet! Whoops, guess I've said too much allready!
w00t! discount codes? no way, then developers would get less money! ;-)
Well, how about the discount code "RISKASSESSMENT" which applies a random "discount" to the total price which could be negative or positive. How biased toward positive or negative values the system is depends on the director's mood at the time, which is of course influenced by how much you buy.
No, make it more certain like: Buy 3 get 1 free ! ;)
Only 3 XL left, does it mean tremulous players are fat? or fat people are rich?
The Granger logo on the website (under About us) would look great on a shirt!
Anyway, good idea, i hope peoples will buy them, i'll make some pub about it.
it must mean there isn't enough fat people. D:
Mean you "big-boned" people better get your orders in quick!
I'm not that into grangers or plushies myself, but I'd buy a shirt with the tremulous booster logo on it.
btw, long overdue:

@MinistryOfFrag: Would you allow it if someone(such as myself) made a custom t-shirt design for you to sell? And yes of course I know you would only do so if it was decently good looking and ect, I have made t-shirt designs for other people/groups... Example:

@Zero
Hot!
Zero Ame: The current shirts aren't selling all that fast, and printing shirts costs money.
So the real question is, will enough sell to make it break even?
Well that just depends on how much people like them, doesnt it?

It depends on how many people like trem, but it also depends on how many of those people are able to buy it (have a credit card/paypal), and how many of those are willing to buy it.
Hi, on the note of custom shirts I'm currently trying to get some shirts made for the unvanquished mod (shirt concepts (http://unvanquished.einsteinbennyboy.com/forum/index.php?topic=94.0)) and was wondering what shirt printing company The Ministry Of Frag! uses?

The problem really isn't coming up with designs (though we do welcome you design submissions - send them to contact @ ministryoffrag.org) it's that the cost of printing etc. isn't really matching up with the rate we are able to sell them to Tremulous fans. Compounding that fact is that we're a bunch of broke hippies with no extra cash laying around so printing shirts willy-nilly isn't really an option. At this point we have several excellent designs in the pipeline, but no extra cash to print them, nor is sales of the current shirt matching our projections. If maybe ~10-15 more shirts were sold we could easily print the second shirt (which is a more awesome design imo.)

Some nice designs you've got there! However a few things - If you are looking to get custom screenprinting (you are), multicolor designs cost much much more than a single color design. Mofrag doesn't use any publicly available company for our printing, and as per our FAQ (http://mofrag.org/faqs) we are happy to fill any custom orders for you, since through our direct connections with several printers we can pass the savings and quality on to you, without you having to deal with any crappy internet-based middleman. I should mention that there is a minimum order quantity of 25 shirts, and if you're looking to order less than that, there are several sites and printers out there that will be more cost effective (though very likely will have much lower level quality) than we would be - if you want I can forward you a list of trusted sites. As an added bonus, ordering from us also will allow us to print more Tremulous things and other stuff :)

You can love something without buying things that are representing it.
EX: i love cookie but...
Ok bad example...
Lies. It's all about the stuff. Even Christians gotta have their rosaries and crucifixes amirite?
Well, I keep saying I'll buy a shirt and never do, someone make me get lucky and find 20 bucks on the ground.
I can't see you getting lucky.
