Title: Single player campaign mode
Post by: DIGI_Byte on December 18, 2008, 09:37:21 am
I know this is an old topic, but what happened the the plans of a single player campaign?
Has it been scrapped, pushed under the carpet or just forgotten?

If its been forgotten, What do you say about reviving it?
A nice short campaign that spans 3-5 maps or just one large map

Tremfusion will eventually have a single player campaign, but it will be more like a tutorial than a real campaign. The bots are pretty mature, Ender is buffing them up. When Azrael07 gets back from his studies he'll finish the Lua scripting system so map makers can add script to their maps, create new entities etc.

How are we for AI nods for the baby bugs to walk on walls and ceilings?
I wonder if you guys could get away with "borrowing" alien swarms tutorial concept,
EG. starts of in a secured training thing, then later some creatures break out and you have to hunt them down.

Has anybody here read the Deathworld trilogy by Harry Harrison? All this talk of a training center and bots has for some reason reminded me of the first book, Jason's first time on Pyrrus and how he gradually came to adapt to the environment. First in a training center, with slowly increasing levels of bot speed and accuracy, then the real thing on the outside.

Some other games of course have live tutorials. Bungee's Oni had one of the better ones IMHO. It would walk you through the motions, let you practice moving and fighting against better and better opponents.

Still do need smarter bots. Tremfusion's are pretty good, but they still get stuck a lot.

Even with waypoints? Or they haven't been implemented yet? Those are supposed to fix getting stuck issues somewhat. I recall some games where you could go through the level and automatically create waypoints, then use the resulted file for the bots.

The alien bots get stuck because they think they are the size of a human. Will be fixed soon.

They are rather egotistical aren't they.

lol'd.

tf's bots are decent -- they actually evolve and upgrade, unlike amine's. but they need to learn to not go front all the time, and not STAND ON THE TUBES. stupid pulse
