welcome to the official mapping competition for NomX! this competition will be for 5 maps to get into the default list of our newest prject



why do we want a new default maplist for NomX?
to give a different feel for tremulous, and balance out issues with the new nomX items.


if you are to compete, you must choose one(but you can choose 2, but only will be added to the competition) of these five settings
Desert/egyptian temple underground
simetrical map(like atcs, but different layout and texture please)
weapons factory
forest-like canyon/outdoors
mission map(with some detail)


you can submit as many maps as you like as long as you submit ONE main map for the competition to be a default map, the rest will be there but at the end of the servers rotation.

6 maps will be chosen, and the rest will be analyzed and chosen if they are sufficient.

Player
and bacon

Or you could use Citadel, UTCS, Ancient Remains, and ask whoever developed mission_one to add a bit more detail. The weapons factory probably exists but I've never seen it. There's a LOT of unplayed maps out there. One I have never seen on a server{,list} that I played just the other day: uranium. Pretty neat map.

If Uranium is the one that I think it is (with the red room that opens for humans after a few stages, and an alcove in the ceiling near human base. A pool in the center area, and a sign that says watch for dretches?) then I played that map years ago (and God knows how I remember it). That was great fun. I think I played it on SST| (God, I miss that server). Goons would camp in the two rooms directly connect to human base. Oh, good times.

On a side note, Tumbo was a map by TRaK (I believe) and it was a weapons facility.

Okay, quick Google searches revealed that Tumbo Weapons Manufacturing Plant 7 was, in fact, by Odin. It's probably mirrored on the MG site.

well, i decided to have fresh maps, not old maps.

we are only using 2 old maps:
Sokolov-1
Tumbo weapons manufacture

so if you want your map to possibly be a default map submit it.

BTW... cant talk from all, but i have no idea about ur project and it features. And i cant even imagine what i must include in maps for make them special under ur project. I maked maps for instagib bcaus i have sense 'what it and how it work'. About NomX i know nothing.

NomX requires alot of space and also small corridors, there are two new higher classes, taralist and autoshotgun, also building is enhanced so it would be good to have the map have alot of good layout locations without being confusing.

my harddrive fried and i couldnt get on to judge or start up the tourney

 i need a final version that you can live with done in a month, but you can take a little longer probably.

Impossible, sorry. I can make very good basis in 3-5 days, but for finish it in month i must share too much time every day. (Sure if you want good in all cases, stable and playable map). Im working and have another problems in RL so its just impossible. Anyway, month its too few time for tests. I made alpha of 'icetrap' in 5 days. But only after 3 weeks of open testing players find some bugs. And im sure thats not all bugs.
Why time is so critical for you?

Also... you need only 'dunno how far in future sci-fi style' maps? =]
