Uhm, first off I'd just like to say. Short of ideas?!?!? How? Do you not watch movies, read books, go outside?
Personally I've never been short of ideas its just once I start putting the idea to practice I find I need more ideas to build onto it.
Anyways a link;
http://www.worldofleveldesign.com/categories/level_design_tutorials/100_level_design_ideas/100_level_design_ideas_and_locations.phpSome random Ideas of my own;
- A Co-op map like my map Hard Landing
- A Puzzle/Challange map like Mission One
- A map that takes place on a flying platform, so there are areas you can fall off and extendable bridges (Sorta Like Halo 2's Lockout)
- A city map (Something I was thinking of doing some time) so it plays like an indoor map but has an outdoor feel (So like its lots of buildings with tight alleys between them)
- A teleport map (Like Halo's
Chiron Tl-34)
- Map set in mine/caves (could have breakable staligtights (func_doors with health key, set to crusher))
- Race map
- Hold Off, Hold Out, Survival kind of map (Like Seige). Humans have a base and many structures they just have to survive a certain amount of time.
Games for architectural ideas; Dead Space, UT3 (Haven't played it just seen some screenshots), Halo's (All of them), Fear 2 (Some sections), Half-Life 2 (Citadel), Neotokyo (HL2 Mod), Portal.
I watch these threads/blogs/forums for inspirational images;

When playing through a game if you see something you think is cool or looks nice take a screenshot. Also ALWAYS have pen and paper with you ideas may come at anytime.
(Might edit this post and add some stuff)
