#1Before we go into installation I want to talk about the different game.qvm's.
Pathbot 3.0 is heavily modded, mass driver does four hundred damage per shot, how ever, the repeat fire is much, much slower. Grenades kill just about every alien on the map (depending on the map/level you have !donated to [talked about later]) but has been tweaked so as not to kill alien structures as easily. To build a structure you must repair the blue field made when you 'place' a structure, you will notice it gives you credits for repairing. There is a new command in this qvm known as !donate it is used to 'level up' making structures stronger along with your weapons. There are a few extra commands in Pathbot 3.0, !drawnodes, !donate,
Pathbot 2.8 is lightly modded with only minor tweaks to the turret damage. This qvm does not have !drawnodes or !donate.
Pathbot- kiwi's
Based on Pathbot 2.8, all settings are vanilla.

http://www.box.net/shared/8g8uog7o07game.qvm pb3 is pathbot 3.0
game.qvm kiwis is pbot 2.8 with default settings (sorry lost the original of pbot2.
#4 <MAC manual installing>
#1. Download the paths and the qvms.
#2. Put the paths folder in library/application support/tremulous/base
>
NOTE< do NOT put the game.qvm in the vm folder yet.
>
NOTE< you may have have more than 1 library search both of them for the tremulous folder
>
NOTE dont start the server (the last code given) untill you do step 4
#3. go to
http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=4124.0 and follow the directions, this is VERY picky if you have problems post here i will try and figure it out. (do it on a tab, its easyer) open terminal and enter in the commander given at the forum i sent you to.
>
NOTE "~" means user library (if you dont know just search your library(s) till you find tremulous/base it should be easy)
#4. then put the game.qvm in ~/Library/application support/tremulous/base/vm (this folder may not exsist in your base folder, if not make it and put the game.qvm in it)
then put in the last code that starts your server dont worry if you start it before doing this, just right click your tremded.ub and say force quit then follow through with step 4.
#5. OK if you did every thing right you should have the command !bot how ever if you try to add one you will get an error "no slots left for bot" easy fix in your console enter in
sv_privateclients 24
(why 24? its an easy number to remember) then say
!bot add <name> <skill>
skill is a number any wheres between 1-360 1 is the weakest 360 is the strongest
>
NOTE< Be careful adding bots--if you add to many you might crash your server.
#5<WINDOWS>
#1. get PBOT2.8.zip: If you want the old version
#1a. or get PBOT3.0.zip: If you want the new version
#2.open foler PBOT2.8/3.0 put the paths folder and the game.qvm in
*Vista*" Users/<username>/AppData/Local/tremulous/base "
*XP*" Documents and Settings/<username>/(Local Settings)/(Application Data)/tremulous/base "
you will be moving the .qvm in a few minutes, So don't forget how to get back.
>
NOTE< do
NOT put the game.qvm in the vm folder yet.
>
NOTE< If its in "()" That means its in a hidden file! YOU WILL
NOT BE ABLE TO SEE IT IF YOU CAN'T SEE HIDDEN FILES!!!!
>
NOTE< dont start the server (the last code given) untill you do step 4
#3. How to set-up a dedicated server. (Windows people are Speical, I'm gonna post the directions on this website.)
A. Start by going here "
http://trem.tjw.org/backport/ ". click on your OS (if your reading this more than likely its gonna be win32) Download the "tremulous.exe" save it under (Program Files/tremulous/) You have to have this you be able to !setlevel yourself.
B. Next go here "
http://tjw.org/tremulous/ " and get the Tremded.exe save it under (Program Files/tremulous/) You have to have this to start a dedicated server. (You have to start a dedicated server to be able to run Pbot)
C. If you followed #2 right (following your OS's directions) move the game.qvm into the vm folder.
D. After you've moved all those to the correct folder, go Start (The button on the bar usally located at the bottom of the screen) Run, Then when the box pops up type (cmd) "don't type the () in" Then press enter.
E. start by typing (cd /) then type (cd "Program Files/tremulous/") then (tremded.exe +set dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg)"2 if you want everybody on the whole internet to see it 1 if you just want people on LAN/your local internet to see it"
F. You should see a tremulous start up console start and not disapper and a tremulous game WON'T pop up. If theres no blinking red words or "Server shuting down" in the middle area. your server is up and should be working.
>
NOTE< On the directions D and E you need to type whats IN the () but
DON'T TYPE THE () THEMSELVES
#4. OK if you did every thing right you should have the command !bot how ever if you try to add one you will get an error "no slots left for bot" easy fix in your console enter in sv_privateclients 24 (why 24? its an easy number to remember) then say !
bot add <name> <skill>
skill is a number any wheres between 1-360 1 is the weakest 360 is the strongest
>
NOTE< Be careful adding bots--if you add to many you might crash your server.
#6The Commands. (Fixed!)
For normal people (People who don't want to get in deep and really mess with things) Here are main commands that you might need or want.
g_bot 1 (enable/disable bots)
g_ambush 1 (ambush mod 1 = on, 0 = off)
g_ambush_stage 1 (current ambush stage)
g_ambush_stage_limit 500 (max stage before eggs auto suicide)
g_ambush_upgrade 0 (current human team level. Players use !donate to get a team level)
g_ambush_upgrade_cost 15000 (cost per person per team level)
g_steepbuild 1 (build on steep slopes)
g_nobuildtimer 1 (build with no timer)
These are all from the main Pbot page you can see the rest of them if you want to here "
http://xserverx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1363"
Some more that you won't find there but might come in handy
timelimit # (Default 60)
g_humanbuildpoints # (Default Not sure)
g_alienbuildpoints # (Default Not sure)
g_gravity # (Default 800)
g_knockback # (Default 1000)
g_ambush 1
it sets aliens so the gradually get stronger, small tip, adv goons are really anoying if you set aliens on high aim rate (skill) friendly fire is best off because bots kill them selves very often and this is extremely hard to beat playing single player.--if you are doing single player i sugest you only have 3-4 bots. Or have 6vs3 "One human being you" so 6 aliens and 2 human bots one human you."
>
NOTE< I turned knock-back up to 6000 so that dretches wouldnt mob the turrets to death and gravity to 500 so you dont kill your self if you blast your luci at the ground in the center of atcs and 100 build points would be best for these games since you have to fight hordes of aliens. (this is for those of you using pathbot 3.0)
#7PATHS
path editing is easy if you know how i would suggest keeping tremulous on windowed mode if your hosting a server
in your console enter in
g_pathediting 1
now go to your in-game console and enter in
/node
you will get a list of commands i will explain a few of them to you quickly
/node add
adds a node (hovering bubble that bots *can* follow)
/node connect
IMPORTANT!!!!! you say /node connect on one node and then go to the one nearest to it and say it again and it should say somthing to the effect of
node #0>--<#1 connected
IF YOU DONT DO THIS BOTS WILL NOT FOLLOW THE PATH
use nodes sparingly you only get 199 if your doing a strait line put lots of space between your nodes to save them deleting nodes dosnt work too well and you will often have to delete your path.dat file if you use all of your nodes before finishing i have been currently working on making these, i have all ready completed one for "thechurch" but to install it on a different computer you will also need a base layout, i will offer you one but i suggest you make your own because bases are highly peronalized on thechurch.
/node action
kneel, pounce, jump, wallclimb
go to the node that you want to have these actions on and say /node action <action you want here> and bot SHOULD do that action when he gets there.
#8Tremulous to-go
This is for those tremulous addicts who want to play on the road and where ever in the world you dont get internet. First lets talk about the code you use to start your server.
./tremded.ub +set dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg now let talk about what this means, ./tremded.ub selects the tremded +set dedicated 2 this mean dedicated level 2 which sends hart beats to tremulous master server every few seconds +exec server.cfg is reading your server.cfg so if you want to play with out internet instead of starting with ./tremded.ub +set dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg start with
./tremded.ub +set dedicated 1 +exec server.cfg
dedicated 1 does not send heart beats to tremlous master server thus you dont need internet to start.
Now to join that server you go into tremulous and hit ~ to open up your in-game console and enter in
/connect 127.0.0.1
(I would suggest memorizing this!) and you should be in.
Do you want fries with that?
O.K. now if your bro/sis/friend/parent has a laptop and want to play with you its easy to do! if you click your airport card symbol on top right of screen (on MAC at least [if you dont have one... your waaaaay out dated]) and select "create network..." you will see a screen asking if you want a password (I would say no for some reason if I put a password on me and my brother cant play tremulous). Now start up tremulous and look into local servers you should see it now.
