Compaq Presario SR2013WM with original Mobo.
So anyway, since I was such a good boy recently, I got a shiney new Radeon HD 4650 512MB PCI-e x16. I have replaced PC parts before, so I proceeded to put it in like I had many times. The card fit in neatly, and receives power through the slot (no connector, card fan works). But! My monitor did not receive a signal from it, nor was it detected by the hardware manager. I made sure to disable the onboard gfx card (an nVidia 6150 LE) through BIOS (Phoenix - AwardBIOS v.600 PG). I read on newegg and some other sites that other ppl had to upgrade their BIOS to get this card to work. (My BIOS was at v3.00, same as when I got it in 2006) So I went
here to get the BIOS for my motherboard (an ASUS A8M2N-LA) and downloaded the BIOS update that the guy did in the first post
here. And now I'm having the same problem that he has. Now, though I hear bootup sounds and can login to my account from memorised keypresses,
neither my onboard
or new pci-e card sends a signal to my monitor. I've tried to reset my BIOS using the methods
here, and it hasn't worked. So I'm grounded from Trem

until I can fix or get a new motherboard. HALP!
PS I had tried a different gfx pci-e card just a day b4, same result, card was powered but no signal.
Edit: While the root of the problem hasn't been solved, there is a way to get your screen back, and therefore to purge your BIOS back to a working revision. 1) Turn off the monitor and PC. 2) Unplug the Monitor-to-PC cord. 3) Press the power button on the PC, and on the monitor. 4) Let one minute pass. 5) Plug the Monitor cable into the PC. You should get your display back. If you wish to enter BIOS, hold your bios key while you are turning the pc on. then, after 10 seconds, let go of the BIOS key and plug your monitor into the PC. You should now see the BIOS screen.
