So I have been messing around and I decided to poke more at the ambient song a tad more and upload it for you guys. I see a lot of people posting doom or quake like songs for the main menu, but I always see a main menu like Alien swarm or something ambient and slow to build up, trying to creep you out. Idk, but anyways I upload a tad different version of the ambient music and you guys tell me what you think. :advmarauder

Here is also the sounds of the aliens I did with the heartbeat.wav and ambient song inside.

It's rather nice but I would really recommend to use this in a loading screen music rather than in main menu. I think Trem needs something else for a main menu music, more melodic or more ambient, with not that simple of a bassline. Also main menu music would need more different effects, perhaps some crescendos, and a more ambient of a sound world.

I can agree with that.

well, its a good main menu music, actually EXTRORDIANRIY good, but i think the title screen image dosent work with the music. if the title screen backround was changed, it will be awesome.

EDIT: put into my mod. im giving you credit in the title page.

I Am working on a more stereo ambient works for the main menu since that gave me an idea. I was more going off the heartbeat.wav file that plays on tremulous now which is a more forceful midi song. But I can make a more ambient dark approach then that, it wont be difficult.

I also agree that this fits for a loading screen better than main menu, although it is very well done. Personally, I would recommend using this for the main menu. Very well done imo.

I like the 2nd one the best. The 3rd one sounds a little arcady to me (Though, I'm hardly a qualified judge of sound.)

Well the second was my contribution to an ambient main menu theme to kind of set the mood before playing the game. The third one is an actual cover of the heartbeat.wav that should be in the game now, so that makes sense to why it does sound arcadey. Plus, the original was very arcadey to me and that's what motivated me in the first place to make all these diff versions. I thought they were going in a more serious approach with the game which is why I made the second one. I could be wrong  idk =-/.

This one is not done, but it is finished enough to show you guys. I hope this kind of ambient is what you are looking for.

http://thenihility.com/Tremulous/tREMMAIN.mp3

and this is a direct remake I did of heartbeat.wav
http://thenihility.com/Tremulous/heartbeatF.mp3

first one is epic. make the beginning a little more "eviler"
the second one, i like it, but not really suits trem.

Necro -
The link is dead... Would it be possible to have the theme song (heartbeat) WITHOUT FileDen, the annoying email spam/special offer site?
