Yes, this IS kinda aping many other games (specifically Xbox ones), but I think it would be pretty cool to have game-by-game achievements that could also be a part of Tremstats. Most of them would also give a small reward in-game (get the first kill and receive 1.2 Frags not just one (0.2 for the Achievement.) Not all of them would give in-game bonuses (some of them can't), but most of them would. Hopefully this won't impact too much on gameplay etc.

(Numbers Probably Need Tweaking/Redoing)

First Kill - Start Strong
Last Kill - Finish Strong
Most Kills - Killwhore
Most Deaths - Watch Your Back/Front/Sides
Most Structures Destroyed - Demoman
Most Team-Killed - Traitor
Most Team-Kills - Mistaken Identity

5 Kills With Nade - Grenadier
10 Kills With Nade - Grenadier Level 2
20 Kills With Nade - God Of Grenades

5 Kills With Barb/Zap
10 Kills With Barb/Zap
20 Kills With Barb/Zap

10 Kills With One Weapon/Class - Practice Makes Perfect
15 Kills With One Weapon/Class
25 Kills With One Weapon/Class

Kill With Granger/Blaster Ckit - Last Resort: W1NN4R

300 Damage To Structures - Destroyer Novice
500 Damage To Structures - Destroyer Pro
1000 Damage To Structures - Destroyer God

5 Kills In 30 Seconds - Son Of Rambo
10 Kills In 30 Seconds - Rambo

Team Leader - Leading The Charge
Overall Leader (Points) - You Win


Just some ideas… I know this may be hard (or impossible) to implement (I won’t say to code, because Term Devs can do ANYTHING.)

I’ve also thrown in some (un)imaginative names for some of them.

I personally am strongly against all kinds of achievements as they add nothing whatsoever and make people for example camp to get a certain achievement, just like statistics seem to do.

So, as it has been debated in countless threads before (search anyone?), no.

If pulled off, could be interesting, but your damage to structures has to be atleast 100,000 because the reactor is 750hp.

Yes it will impact the gameplay...same usual problem with the achievments, they give new players a hard time going up against people that are getting bonuses.

Also
Make people for example camp

1.2 gpp has gotten rid of a lot of the camping...please don't bring it back.

The :granger: lost its  :hovel:, why make it suffer more?

Most of these wouldn't result in camping. Infact, a lot of them are anti-camp. What if each player only saw his/her top two or three achievements. It would push them to do better and see where they're weak.

Killstreaks that are non weapon specific: but each kill has to be within a certain time of the previous (10 secondsish) Serious anti-camp (unless opposing team is feeding the campers like mad). Bigger and bigger rewards as you get more kills.

achievments, are just for decoration. if they gave a bonus, they will get even MORE credits with MORE achievments because they are ahead of the other team.  But one question, why dosent friend grangy like it?

Having Trem say your "achievement" when you get it would be fun (a la Halo) but I don't think it should give any kind of bonus.
Also, the chances of that happening would be slim seeing as we're already in need of sounds...

I suppose something akin to UT's MMMMMMonster kill has always seemed necessary for those epic nadekills that take out an entire team.

No, no, no, no, no. Tremulous, as with every other team v team FPS, is an objective oriented game. Achievements that don't matter but add a little bit of visual flair and excitement to the game are not bad just because they're achievements. If you design them so they're aimed at getting players out of their base, then achievements could very well have a positive effect on gameplay.

The idea wasn't based on changing the game direction, or for that matter affecting objectives. I just thought that encouraging people to rush and destroy the enemy base/go on a killing spree would be more effective than any anti-camping mod. Plus achievements do give a sense of achievement (even though it's small)

And Meis, the rewards would indeed be credits/partial evos, but I'm not sure whether they should contribute to stage up or not.

Players are already rewarded for kills with credits/evos and staging up.

Doesn't killing the enemy lots already provide you with credits/evos? It seems that giving the best players extras, which they may well not need, for killwhoring is a little redundant.

It would only really be noticeable in the early stages... Like I said above, run out of your base at the start, pick up a dretch kill and get something like 220 credits instead of just 180 (First Kill Achievement)
